It doesn't recognize/read/write/play cds or dvds that have content on them or that are blank.
Turn your computer off and then disconnect the cables from the drive. turn computer on again ,go to Device Manager and confirm that the drive is not listed under Cd/Dvd drives(proves it was uninstalled). turn computer off again,reconnect the cables and turn the computer back on. It may give message that it has found the device, and is installing drivers for it.if not go back to device manager and check to see if the drive is listed .click on check for hardware changes. then click on it and select update driver.
Hello there:
first off i would go to device manager and open it and look for the area that says disk drives and open it and look for your cd/dvd right click on it and select remove than confirm removal of the device now at the top of the page you will see view and click on it and where it says scan for hardware change select that and then windows will install the device again you will see new hardware found on the taskbar and it will tell you when the device has been installed and is ready to be used. ok?
