Question about GE Advantium SCA1000H Convection / Microwave Oven

Have to Slam Door to get it to work - Advantium 120

I have an SCA 1000BHH and I have to slam the door and wiggle it to get the microwave to turn on.

Any suggestions?

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount, or a problem on the control panel.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside.

This can be caused by slamming the door or by habitually opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

The circuit board is bad that controls it. try unplugging and waiting and plug it back up and see if that resets, if not I would take it in for repairs

door switch is bad or out of adjustment I have a dometic that does this sometimes I just slam it a little harder

Advantium - Interior Light Operation While Microwaving

The Advantium 240 oven interior (cavity) light will illuminate anytime the door is open. However, due to the dark tint on the oven door, there is not a light on while cooking since the food would not be visible using the interior lamp.
Food may be viewed during a microwave cycle by pressing the Microwave/Oven Light pad.

One of the Upper Level Speedcook lamps will come on for 5 seconds. The Microwave/Oven Light pad can be pressed up to 5 times during a microwave cooking cycle. The limit of 5 times is to prevent excessive heat on microwave cookware from the Speedcook lamp.

The Advantium 120 oven cavity is illuminated anytime the door is opened and while the unit is in the microwave only mode. As a result it will not have the Microwave/Oven Light pad.

GE Advantium 120 When it finishes cooking the turntable keeps turning and light stays on. When I open door it will stop. When I close door it starts again.

It is one of two things, faulty door switch, or the keypad control board.

I would first suspect the primary interlock (top door switch) or maybe that switch's mount is loose or broken.

Door switch or mount trouble is usually caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

Absolutely. That's why they make shop bulbs to use in one's portable garage work light and garage door opener.

Slamming the door of a microwave is never good idea!

Another factor is touching the new bulb with your bare skin, as the oils will shorten the bulb life.

Advantium 120 problem

dis connect from power alow to reset for about a minute . if not there are switches behind the door probably not making good contact make sure door is closed tightly
