You will need a wiring harness and a faceplate kit. You can order the wiring harness specific to your vehicle. A great place to find this is www.crutchfield.com You can hook the wiring harness to the wires of the radio while the radio is outside the vehicle (better than being cramped up in your car). Then you plug it into the stock wiring harness of the vehicle. No guessing at the wiring. If you need the install instructions, go to www.sound-repair.com they have a lot of installation information and may have your vehicle available. It will cost a little to get the information but is well worth it. Especially if you sell your vehicle and want to remove your radio. Hope this helps.
The one with six wires is probably the power of the last radio and the one with 9 is the one for the speakers. I would really recommend an after market radio as in this day and age it will probably be cheaper and more efficient. It will play mp3, bluetooth, you can hook up your iphone etc.
You will only require to get a wiring harness for the make and model of your car and you have a hot new sony, kenwood, jvc etc. A 13 year old radio may not work for you.
I just installed an aftermarket stereo in my daughters 93 Ford Tempo.
I have seen others post on-line and they were incorrect for my 93, the one I found my have been for a different year. THere are 2 wiring harnesses on the stock/OEM unit, one for the speakers (#1) the other for the power (#2). Here is what I found:
Harness #1 Left Front (+): Orange/Green Left Front(-): Blue/White Right Front(+): White/Green Right Front(-): Green/Orange Left Rear(+): Pink/Green Left Rear(-): Tan(Brown)/Yellow Right Rear(+): Pink/Blue Right Rear(-): Brown/Pink
2 things.
1. Don't splice your factory wiring,
look at auto zone or any auto repair place.
buy the "factory radio adapter" (plugs into stock harness with new leads)
2. Buy a Haynes guide for your car also at these places. (will give pin outs for any wires etc)
And for connector types I would suggest using the male female insulated crimp on ends, then if you go from one after market to another just unplug and go.
you need a wire harness for your car you can buy them at most auto parts stores make sure and buy the one for your make and model they should have instructions and the wiring diagram most harnesses are color coded and pretty simple to install
U have a Factory audio auxiliary amp in the truck, the radio is just a head unit with a preamp feeding a main amp, that is behind the right rear 1/4 panel trim panel in the cargo area, if your new sound unit has preamp outputs use them, other wise u must wire around the Ford factory amplifier.
