My sons kvt-512 went dead no power the screen is up and halfway back. I have it out of the car any way to manually close the screen?

There is no way to manually close that screen, there are several motors that operate a gear system that travels the unit out of the slot and raises it. If you can connect it to a good 12 volt source, you may be able to reset it unsing the small pin hole reset button on the left side of the two push buttons on the bottom.

When I hooked my subs up to my KVT-512, the subs only turn on when the Radio is on, but whenever I put in a CD or plug my iPod in, the subs do not work. Can anyone explain why this is happening? Thanks!

Kenwood kvt-512 mecca error
Blue wire is your amplifier remote or power antena, if you ground it and turn the radio on you burn somethin hopefully j6st a fuse.. You did check the fuses, when in doubt the chassis of the radio is also your ground.

My 5th generation ipod is reading on my kenwood kvt-512 but no music is playingits been updated to firmware version 2.5
This happened to me. What worked was turning off the ipod (not stand by mode). Turn it back on and plug it in, it should work.

Kenwood KVT-512 iphone compatibility
Just ignore the airplane mode prompt and if your wiring is correct everything should work.
With my BMW I had to connect both the solid blue (pwr ant) wire and the blue with white stripe (p conn) to the solid blue wire from the factory harness.

It isn't obvious that either of these are needed as the KVT-512 has it's own power supply but the way most factory power amps are installed the power from the KVT-512 is not used and the car manufacturers power amp needs to be turned on.

If you are listening to the radio the pwr ant wire will turn on the power amp, this didn't seem obvious because the BMW doesn't have a power antenna. And when you are using the DVD player or the iPod connection you need the P Conn wire to turn on the car power amp as the ant pwr is disabled because you are no longer using the radio and Kenwood assumes you will not need the antenna so no power to this lead.

Solder all three wires together and you should have sound all the time.

Kenwood KVT-512 with bluetooth setup troubles
