i have had my cannon printer for 6 months and have a problem printing from abdobe reader 8!
all printing on other pages works fine ( just the abdobe does not print)
had a technician take a look at my computer and he says ...... your printers the problem.....
so i hook up another printer and sure enough , it prints from abdobe!
so whats the problem with the MP510 , not compatable ? or does the memory card control all printing ? a faulty card perhaps?......... look forward to your feedback...... thanks.. paul.

For me on my Cannon MX410 with a "paper Jam" light displayed this WORKED!! The absolute BIZZARE thing was after I went and through the described procedure above and rebooted and tried to print the 1st page that came out had a "crushed" ****-roach on the 1st page! So I didn't have a paper jam,...but a ROACH Jam. :) I told my wife, Humm pest service not workin I guess! It errored out again, but simply unpluggingUSB and power cord (not the steps described for the Print Spooler) it prints fine. SO saved me buying a new printer which was just 6 mos. OLD and FINE by me! So THX, Vikram Kumar Thumu!
1. First You need to press the additional functions button on the front. 2. Select Report Settings button 3. Select Printer button under the Print List menu 4. Press either PCL button or PS button to print the appropriate config page. 5. Press Configuration Page button 6. Select Yes button to confirm printing of config page.
Adobe PDF reader tends to print webdings/wingdings in its version 8 incarnation. Download FOXIT reader free from filehippo.com and try to print your document from that instead of Adobe. This nearly always fixes the problem. antosarmy
Opened "Control panel>printers/faxes>Printing preferences>Basic>Paper source, and selected Tray 1 for all pages. Then went into the print menu in Adobe Reader, wich is where I was trying to print from originally, and deselected "choose paper source by PDF page size. It seemed to work.
Then try this, it works for me!!! Canon will hate me for this. 1. Remove ink cartridges. 2. Remove print head. 3. Go to sink or tub (stainless steel, not plastic type), pick up a roll of paper towel on the way. 4. Fold several layers of paper towel and place on flat surface. 5. Run hot water until HOT! 6. Turn hot water back to a dribble. 7. Run the dribbling hot water through print head being careful not to wet the gold contacts. 8.When water running through print head is clear, place print head on paper towel. 9. Repeat number 7 and 8 until no colour shows on paper towel. 10. Gently DAB print head (DO NOT WIPE) inside and out with dry paper towel until dry. 11. I normally replace print head after drying, but you may wish to let it air-dry overnight. 12. Replace print head in printer and install cartridges 13. Start printing. I do this to all 4 of my Canon printers every 6 months or so. If any colour fails to print after this process it means your print head probably needs replacing.
I don't have specific answers, but here are some steps to check things out.
When you say 'just shoots out blank pages', do you mean that the print heads don't pass over the page? If they do, check you ink cartridges to see that they are properly seated.
If the printer sends out a series of blank or mostly blank pages, the drivers may have become corrupt. Download the latest drivers, uninstall the printer, and install with the new drivers. If you have the latest driver, uninstall and reinstall the printer.
Run the head alignment and color tests.
Check your printer cable. If you have a spare, try another cable.
