When I try to remove the blade on my edger by turning the bolt that holds the blade, the blade rotates and is impossible to hold down. Any ideas on how to keep the blade from moving?
You can try to drive something between the blade and the washer (like screwdriver) to create more friction or try holding the washer with channel locks might have left hand threads and you are actually trying to tighten. if that doesnt work probably need an impact wrench. Go to a auto repair or tire shop with mechanic and give them a few dollars for luch or dinner and let them try with air tools

I have TB2726 Troy 2 cycle 25cc engine with trimmer and edger attachments. The Edger blade stop rotating, it seem that the shaft collar of the edger is not engaging the shaft of the engine. What is the cause and how can it be repaired. It is under warranty.
Start here to find User's Manual. Sometimes the nut/bolt holding the blade on is a Left Hand thread and requires CW turning to loosen and remove. Not sure on this model.
The blade bolt is normally 9/16, you will need a good socket and long tommy bar to remove the bolt, an impact wrench will take it out very quickly if you have or can borrow one,
I have an old model
Lawn Keeper gas edger with a 2HP Briggs and Stratton engine. It uses
a 30" fan belt to drive the cutting blade and both pulleys have
an alllen head set screw holding the pulleys to the shafts. The
pulleys are cast aluminum and the set screw and shafts are steel so I
find need penetrating oil and heat to loosen the set screw in order
to push the drive pulley further on the shaft to make room to replace
the drive belt.
Can you grip the blade and hold it still with say a pair of Vise Grips and remove the bolt that way? Lock the grips on the blade and then when it turns will it jam itself against the blade guard allowing removal. What type of bolt actually holds the blade on? Post back with more details.
Go to www.searspartsdirect.com. Put your model number in of your edger. It will show you a parts list , which will include your blade. Hope that helps. Good day.
All the trimmers/gras cutters have blades rotating clockwise. So, to loosen, you have to turn the bolt left. If too thight - use WD-40 Spray. It puts some grease :)
on blad removal the nut goes opposite to tighten, lefty tighty, righty loosen. Put a metal wrench or rod in between the blade and the guard to keep the blade from moving.
It may have left handed threads and needs to be turned clockwise to unscrew. As for sharpening an edger blade...it won't cut any differently. That short blade, traveling that fast and rubbing against concrete is going to do it's job, sharpened or not.
