Re: Proluxe ce818

I have this DVD player, and it has surround sound connectors, and seperately L/R connectors.

Whilst the L/R should mix-down the surround sounds, it doesn't appear to and only actually play the surround sound left and right.

My solution was to plug one of the RCA leads into the "Center" of the surround output, (can leave the other in the L or R slot)

you'll then get voice, out one speaker and ambient sounds out of the other.. It sucks, but that's why this things a freebie.. it's not well designed :P

The voice doesn't match the characters mouths when talking when watching a movie on my Samsung 3D Blu Ray Player.

The way that the audio is connected to the television can cause this. If you have another way, S-video, hdmi, component etc. Try those to see if that makes any difference.

No English language on DVD 's

Bought a new unit. The old unit was a surround sound system in which the previous owner removed the speakers. I wasn't aware of the problem but found out that it would not allow it to play on Dolby 5.1...It would only play DVD's on channel 2, therefore no english etc. Thanks for your help!!!

I have a spectroniq dvd player, and for some reason we can not hear any voices from any dvd, we can hear everything else, like music sound effects, just no voices, what can i do to fix it?

It seems you have altered you audio downmix settings on the player. Go to the DVD player menu and alter the audio settings to default to any of the 2 speaker or 2.1 output settings. For example, Dolby 2.1 output.

Any output that utilizes the center channel (which the device is not equipped with), will not reproduce the voices.

I hope this helps.

My panasonic dvd player is not playing the sound of the main character's voices on two diff. dvd's. Background noise and music is fine. The disks work on another dvd player, and other disks have no problem...

You are listening to a Dolby Digital source and you either don't have a center speaker hooked up or, it's not enabled. If you only have 2 speakers connected to a surround receiver, switch your receiver from surround to surround off. If this doesn't work, or you need more help, specify your system and how it's all hooked up.

I have a Pioneer DV 585A DVD player that happily plays DVDs and the background sounds seems to be fine, but on some of the DVDs you can hear the voices of the characters speaking and then on another you...

Hi edwardm1,

If you are only hearing part of the audio from your DVD player, I would suggest you check your audio settings before seeking repairs.

Audio can be encoded to a DVD in several ways. If the audio on the disc is different than the settings on your DVD player, you may not hear all of the audio layers. For example, if your DVD is encoded in 5.1 Surround Sound, but your DVD player is set only to play basic Stereo, you may only hear portions of the audio.

Try accessing the menu on your DVD player, and look for the audio settings. If there is a higher setting available than is currently selected, try a higher audio setting. A higher setting should also be compatible with lower types of audio encoding.

If this does not improve your audio, or if you need help navigating your product menus, I would recommend giving Pioneer's toll-free support line a call at (800) 421-1404.

Thank you,

DVD sound problem

Go into the setup menu into the audio options (use arrows on remote to go up and down menu and press left to enter the next menu to change options). By memory when I was running this just through a TV and not through a surround sound system, I had to turn off the addition speaker options in the audio menu. The one's like centre speaker etc have an small/large/off option. I had to turn these off so that all sound would come through the TV speaker only. That is about all I remember as I was trying to get this running for my aunt and I no longer have the DVD player.
