Question about Acer AL1916W 19" LCD Monitor

2 Answers

ACER AL2223W I don't know how to set my widescreen settings to be able to fit a web page. It loads in such a way that there is about 2-3 inches of nothing on either side of loaded web page. Plus my letter text is small as well. So I guess I need to know 1) how to stretch the page to fill the width of monitor, and 2) making the text bigger , I've never had such a problem before. Thank you.........................Nick

I had already tried that at least a dozen times before my posting to FixYa. I was using the "slide bar", trying to find the perfect setting and while it may have provided me with a widscreen for movies, I am stll a couple of inches blank on either side when it comes to web pages, maybe that's normal, it's just I never had that with VISTA, but when I just switched back on the weekend to XP, I noticed this glitch. Thanks in advance.

Here are the steps:
Just Right click anywhere but on an Icon on your desktop
Click on Properties
Click on settings
The box that is now open should be "Display Properties"
Screen Area is what you will be adjusting
Move the arrow to the left to make your icons larger
or to the right to make them smaller
800 by 600 being the larger
1280 by 1024 being the smaller depending on the graphics card and drivers installed on your PC
Now once you click on apply your screen will flicker to allow you to preview your selected setting.
If you are not pleased with it answer "No" to the setting
And try another selection.
Repeat this until you have found the adjustment that suits your needs. I hope that this helps.

I have an old tube tv screen, 19 inch. Fable 3 just does not seem to want to fit properly. I am missing about an inch on all sides. I am pretty sure my xbox settings are right.

Most 360 games are made for High Definition Widescreen now.

Have you got an aspect ratio button on your remote? Try switching it to 16:9, and changing your Xbox settings to "Widescreen". You may get the two black strips top and bottom, but the game should look fine. I hope this works for you, as I know how annoying that can be!

Acer 22" AL2223W monitor display goes black after a second

Look at the capacitors in the power supply. Replace them if they look bulged on wither side or leaking. Most likely it is the inverter (the flat object with copper coils about 2 inches long, 1 inch wide). Check the resistance with a multimeter to be sure its around 1000k on both pair ends. They supply the CCFL tubes with voltage. If one onthem is bad they are designed to shut off within 1-2 seconds. Note the inverter numbers and order the part from You won't get them anywhere as the parent company MoniServe makes the power supply board for Acer.

My screen is x X y inches. The windows page doesnt fit into it. There is one inch of black space on the monitor on the left and one inch of my windows screen is lost on the right!!!!!!!

With the on-screen controls, select Auto-Adjust. This should set suitable defaults based on the incoming signal. If you are using the VGA connector and the position still needs to be adjusted, use the on-screen controls to shift the displayed image to the proper location (under Display Settings -> Horizontal Position).

Round things are shaped like eggs

This is a widescreen monitor. To get the display to look right, you need to install the software that came with the monitor, and set the resolution to the manufacturer's recommended setting (the monitor's "native resolution"). I don't know what that is for the AL1917W. I have the AL1917, not the widescreen. A friend got a 21-inch widescreen and had the same trouble as you until we set it to the proper resolution. (And it looks great and I'm jealous!)

Monitor 'drop out'

Ok, the problem with the monitor for programs is actually the Vista Aero. Found out that even though many programs are Vista compatible they do not run with Aero-used program compatibility wizard which reverted Aero to Windows Classic and all is well. Not sure if similar problem is affecting web pages though.
