Question about HP Pavilion zd8000 Notebook

1 Answer

Zd8000 - mobility radeon x600 problem.

I have windows vista ultimate and there is supposedly no drivers for it.

when i play team fortress 2, i get these bog downs from time to time where my FPS will drop to about 9. im running the game in the lowest video settings with 3ghz and 2 gigs of ram. over time it seems like this problem is getting worse and occurring in greater intervals.

should i downgrade back to XP?

is there something wrong with my video hardware (i.e. overheating)?

Re: zd8000 - mobility radeon x600 problem.

The ZD8000 is a very nice machine, but if there are no Vista drivers released for it, you're going to be very frustrated by it's performance.
It came loaded with XP right? If it was a factory Vista load, and drivers are missing, the recovery partition should be able to repair the installation. If there's no video driver, I don't know how it's playing the game at all.
In any case, if it came with XP, and you can find no drivers for Vista, your only choice seems to be to return to XP. It's not as visually stimulating, but much faster in general, especialy for this machine.
Hope this helps
Good luck

Is a ATI Mobility Radeon X700 128MB Laptop Video Card or a ATI Radeon X600 SE 128MB compatible with a HP Pavilion ze4300.

well... hard to say, given that ze4300 is a SERIES of laptops, therefore have a variety of model featuring different specifications. If it's the driver you need, you can download it HERE - compatible with Windows 2k/XP.

Hope I helped,

HP Pavilion zd8000 Upgrades

i have the same laptop. though your video card is independent, it is still integrated into the system and cannot be upgraded, your only be there is to go to the Radeon website and download the latest drivers for it.(it helps) As for your Ram, you can only upgrade to 2 mb of ddr2.(on mine it made a noticable difference) As far as the hd goes i believe sky is the limit, i went from 100 gb to 160 no problem

Wireless connection no longer works after vista upgrade

HP uses "branded" wireless modules, which means it's got to be HP or it doesn't get to play.
Does device manager see the wireless device? I've had similar situations with the 8000s. Always the driver or the wireless utility was the problem. Try letting windows manage the device, or if you already are, disable that and use the devices utiliy to manage it.
BTW, most systems consider BT as wireless.
Good luck, hope that helps

Distorted display

Yes could be a graphics card problem, try uninstalling drivers through your device manager(right click my computer>properties>hardware tab>device manager)and click the '+' sign on your display adapter, then right click and uninstal. Reboot and allow windows to find hardware and drivers again. Other suggestion is normally, there is a facility on laptops to re-install certain drivers from a restore patitition on your hard drive.
