Question about HP Pavilion zd8000 Notebook

Zd8000 - mobility radeon x600 problem.

I have windows vista ultimate and there is supposedly no drivers for it.

when i play team fortress 2, i get these bog downs from time to time where my FPS will drop to about 9. im running the game in the lowest video settings with 3ghz and 2 gigs of ram. over time it seems like this problem is getting worse and occurring in greater intervals.

should i downgrade back to XP?

is there something wrong with my video hardware (i.e. overheating)?

I have pretty much the same problem, except mine won't run ANYTHING. I've tried installing recent drivers and everything, I just guess I'm going to have to wait until they release new drivers, because the graphics card is embedded into the motherboard making upgrades extremely difficult.

The ZD8000 is a very nice machine, but if there are no Vista drivers released for it, you're going to be very frustrated by it's performance.
It came loaded with XP right? If it was a factory Vista load, and drivers are missing, the recovery partition should be able to repair the installation. If there's no video driver, I don't know how it's playing the game at all.
In any case, if it came with XP, and you can find no drivers for Vista, your only choice seems to be to return to XP. It's not as visually stimulating, but much faster in general, especialy for this machine.
Hope this helps
Good luck

ATI radeon x600 128 mb video (Windows 7) driver

AMD's DirectX 9 ATI Radeon graphics accelerators are not officially supported under Windows 7. But you can install ATI Catalyst Windows Vista graphics driver under Windows 7. Some features may not be available under windows 7 but it would be worth a try.

I need to download ATI Display drivers for my Toshiba tecra S211 but i m not getting it on the net

ATI uses drivers called Catalyst Drivers. The ATI card you have is the ATI Mobility Radeon X600. Go to this link;

Select your Vista or XP or whatever your Operating System is from the first list. Then in the second list, select mobiltiy radeon. Then Mobility Radeon X600 from the third list. Then click GO.

Then on the next page use the installation verification software. Once it verifys your hardware is compatible with the driver, it should download and install it.

HP Pavilion zd8000 Upgrades

i have the same laptop. though your video card is independent, it is still integrated into the system and cannot be upgraded, your only be there is to go to the Radeon website and download the latest drivers for it.(it helps) As for your Ram, you can only upgrade to 2 mb of ddr2.(on mine it made a noticable difference) As far as the hd goes i believe sky is the limit, i went from 100 gb to 160 no problem

ATI Mobility Radeon X600 (PCI Express?), in an HP Pavilion zd8000 Notebook.

The Deadlock Bug Finally Solved

I had the same problem for a year or so. I used vista in the meanwhile, but after a 3D bug I got upset and decided to try fix this bug, finally succeded in it. I'm sure it has something to do with the memory, but still there's a mistery........

The solution :
It can be a little wierd, the softwares i used are : ASO - Advanced System Optimizer 2.2 and Mobility Modder 1.0 Final.

Step 1 (ASO) : In the windows optimizer at the
System Performance #2 I turned on the :
Improve Core Kernael Performance
Enable Large System Cache
(I made the cache size 1,024 - not sure if this was necessary)
Theese options were to force the system to write the swap on memory instead of your HDD

Step 2 (Mobility modder) : First download a new Catalist Driver from anywhere on the net, then the modder from :

This software is quite handy because you can use the latest catalyst on your mobility radeon.
After The modding I've set the Graphics memory on 128MB -from (it was 256 earlier) -

The only thing left for you now is to install the newly modded catalyst and enyoy the advancements of your 3D card again.

Not sure if step 1 is necessary, but my problem was solved after step 2, so my 3D card was back form the DeadLock and Infinite loops, and finally running smoothly on XP again.

Btw I have a HP zd8000 with x600 mobility.
