P4 error code means there is an error in the compressor drive.

Please recheck the error code. Are you sure the code is P4 and not F4? Carrier does not list a P4 but it does list an F4 error code. F4 means outdoor mid-coil temperature sensor malfunction. Or how about E4? E4 means compressor discharge high temperature protection.

This is a link. If you "Find in page P4" it shows a compressor inverter failure. Assuming this is your unit. Need a model and serial #?

Trouble shooting

I have a P4 code in a inverter white westinghouse 24000btu air

Hi, i found out from Thermador customer service that error code F64 means that the lower fan switch (located inside the bottom trim on the right side) is not being detected as closed. In my case, this was because the header (P4) on the Display panel had broken loose from the PC board and was no longer making contact. P4 is where the lower fan switch wires connect to the control boards (actually the display panel).

P4 code outdoor compressor air exhaust temp too high/outdoor ambient temp too high/ compressor enclosure temp switch break off/module temp too high. Compressor is not running because it has an over temp alarm. Fix/repair thermocoupler
