Question about JVC AV-32F704 32" TV
I am missing selections on the inital setup menu. They were there at on time but have disappeared. How do you reset theJVC AV-32F704 unit back to the factory reset condition? Unplugging does not work.
You didn't mention if you saw fine white diagonal lines running through the screen from top to bottom. If so, you likely have a shorted Picture Tube which is not usually fixable. If there are no lines seen running through the screen, then it is possible the High voltage transformer which also has a screen voltage and focus control built in that could be bad. I would expect the cost of that part to be about $100, so the repair cost total could approach that of a new set I would guess.

SOURCE: Can't shut off closed caption
I have the JVC I Art 46" TV. The Close Caption was turn on accidentally by my grandson. After lots of searching for the original remote. I called JVC Customer Support. He told me to change the Close Caption settings to CC2 and T1. That fixed the CC without having the original remote.

It might be a loose solder connection inside, try to prove it,the next time it goes blank, firmly give a whack to the back or bottom of the set,if it flashes back......sholud be a loose solder conn that a competent technician can find and repair
