Hi,
If this is a rear projection set you needs the convergence IC replaced,
the model # wd52725 indicates it may be a DLP (probably not correct). If its a DLP the problem is within the power supply or video/formatter boards. The convergence ICs should cost between $250 and $400 to have a servicer install them depending on their labor rates.
If this is a DLP model the power supply repair (just capacitors) would cost the same, but if the boards are bad it would be over $500 to have repaired.
Is it worth the repair? Most servicers charge an estimate fee $60-$120
perhaps for can ask them for their labor rates for the IC install instead of having them drive out and tell in person what they could say over the phone.
Compare the repair prices with the replacement price and decide based on, your budget, how old the set is, what you paid for it originally.
You can buy a new 52" proj set for around $1000-1200 DLP or LCD
you will get a 1 year warranty on a new set, but only a 90 warranty on the ICs. If you buy a new set try to buy the 3 or 5 year extended warranty to protect your investment.
hope this helps
E

You probably have a V26 chassis. The only fix to this problem now that parts are no longer available from MITS is to call their Consumer relations dept. at 800-332-2119. If you have a qualified tech come out and estimate the job, Mits will offer you an attractive discount on a new model. To repair your problem would be around $750

I SEE DOUBLE THE PICTURE AT THE TOP LEFT IS WAVEY

Projection TV sets are known to have two common problems. The first problem that is common to these sets is convergence failure. When this happens the TV will usually look 3D, Wavy/Distorted, etc. It may also shutdown and blink an error code.

The second common problem with Projection TV sets is dull video, halos around objects, white looking video, or red overpowers the screen. This is commonly caused by the fluid in the lens being clouded over.

Hello,

The problem is from the lamp of the television, it seems to be having some faults, it is gradually getting damaged.

It will start by being wavy until it goes completely blank.

Some lamps go for about $125 or more. Some go for $200.

Take care and Good luck

We got our mitsubishi in 2000. it was working fine and then little by little the picture has wavy lines and you can't see the movie, it has gotten much worse. what can we do?

The wavy lines are caused by the aging of the vertical deflection unit = the defective parts (some capacitors and resistors) must be replaced.
The fix wont be very expensive - the parts will cost less than $25 - but you need a good electronics repair guy to do the job and this is going to cost you.
Remember, it's an old tv that has started to show its age. Maybe it's time to start saving for a new one.

My TV picture seems to have a "sheen" aking the

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.
This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Mitsubishi rearTV has intermittent wavy lines running throughout

Do you have anything to test it in 1080i? Does it do it on all connections or just one? I had a similar problem with my TV that turned out to be a bad input board. Mine would only display 1080i through the Component connections. All others would show pink and green wavy lines. It cost me around 500 to fix it. Unplug the TV. Remove the back cover for the TV. Using a NON-metal object, or gloves, wiggle the input board (that has all the video connections on it) slowly back and forth and see if the problem comes and goes. You will have to have someone watching for you. If something is loose on that board, the problem should show itself. Narrowing down the problem will probably save you money on repair bills.

Video distortion

You need to take your tv in and have the picture deflector re-aligned.  This doesn't cost much, My dad had to do that to his a few months ago and it cost 30 bucks.
