on my lg vx8300 cell phone my car kit was enabled somehow and firstly i don't even have a car kit so i have no idea how it was activated and secondly i have no idea how to turn the damn thing off so i can actually use my phone.
I have the same problem.

I really don't know how car kit mode was activated,I don't use it ever.I don' even know where it is.Now phone gets no sound at all when I try to use it,like it is on mute,but its not.

I found this on another site, it worked like a charm... roll a VERY THIN piece of aluminum foil, and slide it (almost jiggle it) in the POWER SLOT. I tried it and it worked . Apparently saliva, water or anything liquid will make the connection to activate the phone into the 'car kit mode', so the aluminum foil acts as a conductor and switches your phone out of car kit mode...

do you have a plugin personel hands free that you have used?
if so the connection where it goes in may be stuck and still registering try pluging it in and out a couple of times to unstick it.otherwise you will need to take it to a tech to have them look at it

attach it to the carkit and then take a thin foil paper and make sure the foil connects to both the connectors. this will reset/restart the phone and guess what? it woeks..
