Sound seems distorted, come and go whenever the cord near the jack moves, is it repairable? if it is how?
i contacted bose and they advised me to get a new one which is still expensive and i've only had the earphone for 4 months now.

Yes basically if you look at the jack end you should see where the join is it may unsrew then look at the wires in side and the looose one should be seen if not yu can get a new jack from most online electronics Maplin -RS- or any electronics supplier you will need to resolder the wires onto the new connector..make sure you keep the other snipped off connector for reference when resoldering new.. There are a few tips to soldering.. maker sure the wire is twisted before soldering and touch the wire to the solder tip then bring teh solder wire to the wire to tin (melt solder) the end then do the same with other wires. once the wires are tinned bring to plate on teh connector and touch wire to connector and then solder tip to where wire and connector are.. if you keep teh soldering iron on the connection to long you may melt the plastic jack surround so I usually use a metal jack type.. if it has three wires one is for left one for right and one earth..copy the old jack wiring and you should be ok.. I hate to say it but you probablly need a bigger hammer... grip the jack, not the fiddle, and put more force on the plug... they can initially be tight... I do NOT like carpenter jacks myself. They are too heavy. At the 1 cm point is where the plug has to displace the contact. Expect to put 1 to 2 pounds of force to get the plug in... SUPPORT the jack so the force doesn't go on the fiddle. Make sure to use a high impedance cord and preferably short, say 3 feet cord. The capacitance of a guitar cord heavily loads a piezo pickup reducing the high frequency component of the fiddle sound and distorting the waveform. The impedance of the piezo's are around 1 to 2 megohms. Looking on an oscilloscope I found that a guitar cable and amp input made the normal sawtooth violin waveform into peak like mountains. We are now using a short cord (2.5 feet) into a Line6 X2 wireless digital body pack. The link transmits the wave undistorted.
I've experience this issue on a different set of headphones and unfortunately it means that there is a split in the wiring in the headphone cables. The only option I found is to contact Bose for a repair. If you are under warranty then this is a quick and easy process, otherwise they request that you pay for the repairs to the headphones. A educated guess points to either broken soldering or a broken ground on the input jack itself. This is a CHRONIC problem of amps because people trip over the cord and it yanks the cable and jack sideways breaking it or the solder where it attaches to the circuitry.
To avoid the problem, loop your cable through the handle of the amp so when cable is yanked it doesn't yank the jack so hard.
You power cord connection is probably getting ready to go TILT on you. Take it to a LAPTOP repair company near your residence and have then check the soldier connections on the POWER CORD CONNECTION RECEPTICAL where it is attached to the Mother Board. This could save you a ton of money and maybe even your computer if the mother-board was to break totally. Some pressure, more than likely, has been applied to the Power Cord Connection in the Laptop. BE VERY CAREFUL. It could go at any time.....
please bring a good brand lubricant contact cleaner from near radio shack and apply it in the sockets(the place which you put your jack).and insert your jack in-out many times-also you have to check cable for the bad channel(try with good channel cable).
