Installing install from cd seems to freeze at about 95%.. says installing fax tools. This printer doesnt have a fax

Do you know how to access the properties of the printer?

Are you having problems with the installation OR running the game?
If installation freezes at 100%, try waiting a little bit longer. It can take a little while for the installer to finalize the installation process.
You could also try copying the contents of the CD to your hard drive and running the installer from that. That way, the installer would no longer need to read from your CD-ROM to complete the installation. If you encounter an error while copying, then your CD is damaged and you might not be able to install it properly.

Hello. The fax driver can be installed using the installation cd that came with the printer. I don't think it's available for download though. Most of Lexmark's scan and fax drivers can only be installed using the installation cd. If you don't have the cd, you can call Lexmark for assistance with that. They may be able to send you the installation cd. Good luck!

plug it in while windows is loaded. if windows can not install it automaticaly, it will ask if you want to find the drivers (software to make your hardware work) on the internet. click yes, this time only.

Installing printers seems to be a problem after installing Service Pack 3. You might be best doing it from the Control Panel - printers and Faxes - Add Printer. It took me several attempts to get it installed.

The original CD wouldn't do you any good. This printer came out when Windows 95 was the current OS. There are no drivers available for this model for Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows Vista (and there never were Mac drivers available). If you are using Windows 95, 98 or Me, you can download the drivers here.

If the unit is still printing properly, you may want to use it as a fax machine (only). But I would recommend buying a new printer. The current printers print much faster, with much better quality, and for very reasonable prices (starting at about $50).

How to Install BVRP FaxTools Software on the Lexmark X6130/X6150/X6160/X6170/X6190 Pro ID:ENUS8694
The FaxTools software is on the Lexmark X6100 Series Installation CD. During installation of the printer driver, you will be asked whether you want to install it. If you choose to cancel this option during the installation process, you can install the software separately as follows:

1. Insert the Lexmark X6100 Installation CD into the CD-ROM drive.
2. When the Install Software screen appears, click Cancel.
3. Right click on the Start button and select Explore.
4. Click on the plus sign (+) beside My Computer .
5. Click on the plus sign (+) beside the Lex X6100 CD.
6. Double-click on the FAX folder.
7. Double-click on the relevant language folder on the right-hand side.
8. Double-click on the Setup executable. (Note: The correct setup icon is the one with two white arrows on a grey foreground.)
9. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Which operating system do your and your brother's printer use? Are they the same machine, or are they widely different? are they networked? If you just start your brother's computer without the printer installed, then plug the printer into it and turn on, what screen message if any do you get? :)
