Highly unlikely the bulb could be at fault; it sounds a lot like a defective DLP chip. If you are not aware of how this device functions, it is an array of physical mirrors which can fail individually and cause the effect you are having. The bulb failing would cause a loss of the entire screen, not just a few points.

Hi,what you are experimenting it's a faulty light engine problem, this is a common failure on Sony tvs. What's happening Is that your tv carries 3 chips blue, green and red, those chips are in charge of creating the colors on your tv .When these chips start to melt you will get color discoloration.Repair cost will be very highly around $400-$600 The part you need it's called the light engine or optical block ,some people are getting sony to repair their tv at no cost,I suggest to contact them to see if you qualify.God bless you!

Make sure you have it set to wireless off in the menu or it will not recognise the ethernet port on the back even if it is flashing. Most tvs with browsers come with the wirless function set to on. Also if it has search for internet signal you could try this to get it to rec. as well.
