Watching standard cable on an HDTV can be quite a shock; the images are likely to be in a smaller aspect ratio, and have grainy or pixelated distortions. Additionally, the use of non-HD compatible devices, such as a DVD player, VCR, or older gaming system, will produce a less than stellar picture.

If you've changed the aspect ratio or your television, or have changed the zoom in or out, you may be encountering distortion that would otherwise not be noticeable. Setting the picture to a 1:1 ratio and turning off any overscan can help ensure a better quality image.

If you're using a system that supports HD, such as a Blu-ray player or an HD-compliant gaming system without the use of an HDMI cable, the image may be distorted. HDMI cables transmit both HD quality digital images and sound over one cable, and provide the best possible picture A/V signals.

Do you have low def cable? All nfl games are taped in HD so they dont look good on low def cable/sat tv.

Watching a football game picture is very unclear

The noise reduction option will cause a blur on fast movement. Also, you probably already know this, but a standard definition broadcast will look very blurry on an HD TV, so make sure the channel you're watching is actually an HD channel.

Oh, wow, I just noticed that this is from October. Oh well, maybe you're still having problems.

Moving objects extremely blurry in SAMSUNG LCD-football, golf,etc

This is a problem that will pretty much just be there on this TV. I know it has an awesome long as nothing moves. You can try putting it in "Game Mode" in the user menu and that usually takes care of it but you didn't buy the 120/240 Hz tv to watch it in 60Hz. I would say exchange it, and in my opinion buy a good plasma :)

Toshiba 52" REGZA has a grainy picture

There is no easy (read: cheap) solution for this. Especially because your TV is so big, the only thing that will look good on it is something that plays at the very least 720p HD output.

I don't know what your DVD player model is, but you want an upconverting DVD player, and even then, the quality will not be full HD. The only thing that is full 1080p HD on the market today is Blu-Ray, and game consoles like XBox 360 and PS3.

As for the sports, it depends on the TV you bought. If the deal was too good to be true for a 52" TV, you probably got one with a low Hz, or a high refresh rate. This means that the images played don't update quick enough for high motion video like action movies and sports, which is why it's blurry. Mine has a 3ms response time, by comparison.

Hope this helps, please rate me.

I am running it with the hdmi that comes with the ps3. Played with the settings and restored it to factory but still looks off. Yes, you must get a HD box. Digital is not HD quality. You will use the hd inputs on the jack panel that are green = Y
blue = Pb
red = Pr
Audio will be Red & White ( L+R )
