1998 Pontiac Bonneville SE 3.8L Backfires/ Sputters

1998 Pontiac Bonneville SE 3.8L Non-supercharged engine. When I start the car it starts fine. Idle is good. When I put it in gear it sputters like a Model T. When I hit the gas it bogs down and hesitates. At a stop light if I floor it it backfires from the intake. Then sputters for a second then takes off quickly. Between 45-55 mph it sputters and bogs down. I'm not sure if it's fuel, fire or back pressure.
Fuel system? Ignition wires and plugs? Timing? Catalytic converter?
I recently changed the spark plugs and about 2-3 weeks later this issue started.
Idle is fine only when i hit the gas do i have problems. I can drive down the interstate at cruising speeds mostly with no problems. Take offs and quick starts are the only time i have problems.

Sounds like the ignition module is going bad.

I have an intermittant problem where the car stalls out while driving and the power windows stop working

Check the wire connection at the starter and make certain they are tight as the power supply to engine and accessories is picked up there at the solenoid. Check the engine ground strap as well.

1998 Pontiac Bonneville SLE will turns over but will not run

I would check to see if the spark plugs are fouled. Or you might have a bad ignition control module (mounted under the coil packs). Auto Zone can test the ignition control module.

2001 pontiac bonneville SSEi 3.8 l supercharged. The car runs smooth for 15-30 min then stalls out. And when you attempt to restart it starts and idles up and down. And dies after 30 sec. With no check...

I have a 2000 Bonneville - I had a problem with the car stalling out - then it did not want to start back up. (When it did it would idle up and down and then die) I changed out the mass air flow sensor - now I have not had a problem. Good luck with it.
