Question about Dell InspironTM 600m Notebook

Dial up problems

I have a new dell least once a day the dial up says im connected but i cant access anything(as if im disconnected)ive had to wipe my hard drive 4 times and a technician has replaced the modem but im still having dramas.i also have changed net providers and had a phone line check that came back good(from both providers)dell seems to think it is nothing to do with the computer itself,what can i do to fix problem?

In order to help you further I need the following questions answered:
What OS are you currently running?
Are you connected to a landline dialup or DSL?
Because if you are using dialup, that is your problem right there! Most of the people who are still using dial connections instead of DSL or Cable will have these problems. Technology is evolving so fast that even the phone companies seem to have trouble tell their customers that dialup is a problem because they are not supporting it anymore. They are selling it, but not supporting it because of DSL, FIOS, and cable.
You may want to upgrade, because even if the problem is resolved you will still encounter problems due to the lack of support!

my guess is either ur speakers blew or there is a loose connection somewhere. go on youtube n search for how to open ur laptop. once you get it open you should be able to see if anything has disconnected or not.. good luck hope this helped

I cannot connect to my home wireless network provided by my new ISP, after I ended my subscription to my old ISP. Connection via old ISP was via Dial Up; connection via new ISP is via broadband. I have a...

First of all you may try to check the adapter settings on your computer.

Start>control panel>network and sharing center>adapter settings>check status of broadband(should be connected)

If not right click on broadband connetio and click on connect if still showing as disconnected

You may also check internet option settings.
open IE>tools]nternet options?>connection tab>tick on never dial a connection.
Click on LAN settings tick on automatically detect settings>ok

You may also check for the if the driver for your wireless broadand is working by checking it on device manager.

Try to check if broadband is working on the other computer.

My screen is black i havent had any problems new battery and adapter i shut it down woke up and its a black screen and cant see anything its never happened before i have no idea and ive had it for 4 years...

If you laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LED flashes then the problem could be a back light problem. This could be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link to determine the fault and possible fix :-

Problem connecting to dial-up internet

You have dial up? wow.. well, might not be your computer or phone line. Might be the server your dialing into. Is there a different phone number from a different server you can dial to test this theory?

New hard drive- what to do next

start with the first disc of the OS, then follow the on screen instruction,
usually default is good.
if you have a USB enclosure for the drive(cheap, less than 20$) you can also use the trial version of acronis true image to clone the hard disk to the new one and then installing it without having to reinstall anything.

GSM SIM port in dell inspiron 1420

the port is for msx12 serial sim... what u else need except the internet sim is the driver in cd which u got along with the sim, the cd contains a driver which will directly make icon on your desktop as a dial up connection, from there u can through the internet, but my suggestion, go for broadband.. dial up.. that also wireless wil not give satisfying speed..

Modem replacement inspiron 2200

Do you have access to another laptop that you could test the new modem in? Sounds to me like the new one maybe faulty :(

Try uninstalling the old one whilst its in via device manager then shut down and put new one in. If it doesnt detect it then its faulty.

My problem is, that my laptop cannot work anymore its internet connection.

Some questions before we get started: -What operating system are you running? -Are you using DSL, cable or dial-up for Internet access? -If you?re using DSL or cable are you plugging your laptop directly into the Internet provider?s box? What is the manufacturer and model of it? -Have you tested your Internet connection to make sure its working? If it?s a phone line can you dial out, if its DSL or cable try connecting another computer to it. -When you plug your Internet cable into your PC does anything appear or change on your screen? Once you give us some more information to work with we can start figuring out what is going on.
