This Message shows up because it might not be a invalid DVD. Which means the DVD might be scratched, messed up, or sometime when is a DVD that you copied from your computer. Hope it works!

Your windows is corrupt. Your only 2 choices are to get a windows disk of the same version you have (windows 7, vista, xp) and run the recovery console and manually install this file from the disk. On windows 7, and maybe vista, you can get a "repair my computer" option. Your second option is still get a windows disk of your version and make a clean install on your hard drive. You can get a disk online, since you have a valid serial code or you could contact Acer or where you bought the laptop, and see if they can send/give you one.

I have a disk read error message on the screen, how do i fix it??? please help

Hi ed,

Disk Read Error means that the system is not able to detect a valid bootable device or the Operating System is corrupted. There are 2 options if you want to Restore the laptop to its factory settings. You can either use the Recovery Disk if you have one. You need to access the BIOS page and change the First Boot Priority to CDROM or use the Hard Disk Recover. I've posted here the guide on how to do a Hard Disk Recovery. Just follow the instructions on the manual.

Manual 1 and Manual 2

Yes, you can click that Microsoft pop-up, and it will lead you through their "key-changer" software -- when requested, enter the 25-character key on the Microsoft decal on the bottom of the laptop, to "get valid".

Or, contact HP and order a set of "system restore" CD/DVD disks for your specific model -- about $20 for the disks, and $20 for shipping -- and reinstall Windows.

Or, some computers have a built-in "System Restore" partition that is "hidden" on the disk-drive. Backup your data files, and then reinstall from the files in that partition.

Reboot error - did not come with disk

You could have a hard drive failure. In that case you need to get a new on and re-install the operating system. Depending on the operating system which i guess is windows XP you should have no problem re-installing it with a valid license. To optain the software you need to find it on the internet and download it. then use your license to validate it. Hope this helps

I'm trying to repair and reinstall XP Professional, but I get the error message; The CD key you entered is not valid. What can I do?

Your key is not valid means that the key you have does not fit what the disk requires. You will have to find a new product key or another disk..Sorry...Darren
