Question about RCA F27442 27" TV

1 Answer

No Picture with Cable Connection

Our television seems to work perfectly - with the exception of the cable connection. We have a perfect picture with both the VCR, and DVD and audio is working as well. But we can't seem to bring up the picture for regular cable. We can bring up the main menu on the TV and all components seemingly work. Is there something we can do to 'reset' the tv or is this an internal problem that will need to be repaired by a professional?

Thanks for the help!

Re: No Picture with Cable Connection

Most likely the tuner is damaged inside of the TV itself, possible from moving the tv or pressing the connector too hard. An easy fix for anyone who has the slightest bit of skill with a soldering iron. You may also go into your menu and make sure that you are using the right system for pal or ntse

I too would like to know the solution to this question...we are having the identical problem and Sony doesn't seem to know how to fix it. Although, the picture from the DVD player is perfect, the pictures for cable & video games are terrible. Very frustrating!

Stand by timer continiously blinking there is sound but no picture pls help, it was perfect in the morning.

hey i had a similar problem with my television if your comfortable opening your tv "i would if it needs to be fixed" open it up there should be a red cable running from the electrical components to the actual tube there is where more than likely the problem is located, with my television it was that what i did to solve this problem is tighten that connection up and make sure it is closing the circuit so to speak
so if you've gotten this far opened your tv and located the wire try pulling on it not to hard obviously but give it a nice pull and have someone turn on the TV while doing so remember don't touch any electrical components and always ground yourself before embarking on any electronic journey if this has any effect on the television the next step is figuring out a way to tighten this connection up obviously we cannot solder or do any of the sort with this type of connection so i would advise to stick a small enough object you can fit next to the cable now we don't want to stab a hole in the cable just wedge it in next to the cable fiddle around with it until the picture is crisp clean and perfect and voila....... it worked for me and has been working for over a year now remember use your head don't stick anything that might cause interference or conduct electricity
and there you go noobinuity at its finest

"snow sound" on rca tv, perfect picture

Although your picture is perfect, I would think the fine tuning is slightly off. This can also be to do with the cable box frequency setting. Call out the cable people & get them to check the box & the setting up to the TV.

How do we adjust our tv

You didn't mention anything about a cable box, VCR, etc. which might be connected. A snowy pic. means simply, inadequate signal is reaching the tuner, or the TV tuner itself is bad. If the first is so... check your cabling. If you have a VCR or DVD player hooked in between the cable box or outside antenna (whichever is the case), VCR (RF or ant.) out should go to the TV, VCR antenna (RF or ant.) input to the cable box. Also check the cable wire itself. If you look at the end of the cable, you should see a relatively thin center wire. This center conductor is what carries the signal. If it is missing, bent over, or too short to make contact with whatever it is connected to, you will have a very snowy pic. If you have a spare TV, connect it in place of your "new" TV, to narrow down the problem. Lastly, if all is well with hookup, cabling, etc. the TV might have a problem. Sometimes the tuner has a component defect, or the coaxial connector can be broken.

Problem with cable reception

Mmmm, sounds like the high voltage supply is toast. Recommend taking to repair shop; get an estimate, it may not be worth the money to repair.

Non-HD picture issues

Sounds like you may have something generating interference, such as a bad cable shield on maybe a ground connection inside your tv. You might try moving the cables while watching the screen and see if the pattern changes. Double pictures on a screen can be caused by "ghosts", which means that you're getting two signals--- one slightly behind the other. Anything oscillating generating a radio frequency may radiate into your circuits causing this strange problem. Stargazer
