Question about RCA 32V524T TV

1 Answer

RCA 32v524t About a year old and Quit working all I get is some ticking and a green flashing light out of warrany so I opened it up. I notice when I plug it in and hit the power button the tube lights for about a 1/2 a second then goes out then the power light starts flashing. I suspect that the flyback transformer is failing under a load. I would love to hear any other Ideas before I yank it out. Thanks,Chris

Re: RCA 32v524t

Hello All,

This is a flyback problem. Thomson will not honor the installation neither will RCA. This has been going on for years. RCA and Thomson technically parted company a few years ago, but because RCA still uses Thomson parts they often have problems getting these parts when they fail, so RCA leaves it up to the TV owner to get the set repaired at a third party shop. In addition to this the Thomson parts only have a 1year warranty from the date of manufacture of the set, so it is possible for you to buy a RCA TV with Thomson parts that are out of warranty before you take it out of the store. Sad but true, the only recourse is to try to get RCA to service the set, provided that it malfunctions within the first year of purchase. I would suggest that you all take these TVs to a qualified TV repair shop to get them repaired, however, make sure the shop uses the exact OEM parts (This is important) because there are parts that come close to the original, but you or the TV shop would have to spend hours adjusting focus and screen voltages to allow the new part to work.

I hope this helps

Thank you,

My RCA television quit all of a sudden and now the power button is flashing green and won't turn on.

Your tv has a power supply fault, take it to repair shop and have it repaired
ask the technician to check the following components
semi conductors around the supply section, also ask him to check the (ht) high tension voltage which triggers a line transformer which in turn gives small outputs voltages to power the tv.

RCA will not turn on

I had this problem on My RCA tv, what I found was a couple of bad green capacitors in power suply there are around three of them I just replaced 2 of them if I am not mistaken one of them is C120 but if not change all three this are the value of the ones I replaced 2200uf 16v and 220uf 35v, if you see on top of the green capacitors you will notice they are bad.

My tv is working for more than a months and I had the same problem as you are having.

This may denote a proble in either your switching powers supply or your Horizontal section derived high voltage power supply. These are both very dangerous sections in your television. My next question is important; do you have a background in electronics? If not I would not advise you working on this problem yourself and that you take the TV to a repair shop for servicing. If you do have some background in electronics, I would like for you to make the following obeservations: What was the TV doing (it actions)prior to it going out? Did you hear any sounds before it went out like buzzing or crackling? What do you hear when you try to turn it on now, clicking? These questions are just to develop some background into what might be happening to your set. Thank you, Shuttle83

RCA 32V524T- Blown fuse?

If you blew the fuse, the TV would do absolutely nothing - no lights, no sounds, nothing. It could be that the loud zapping noise you heard was the high voltage transformer arcing or shorting out. This could have caused the horizontal output transistor to short, and the set will not start as a result. You should have the set serviced by a qualified tech.
