Your burner is not lighting completely, this may result from some contamination on the burner itself. Try cleaning any contaminants with a stiff brush, like you would use on a barbecue grill. Be very careful not ot make contact with the igniter as you will break it if you do.
BTW, while most gas appliances are very safe to operate, I consider this one to pose a danger if it is not corrected.
