SOURCE: how to format IDE hard drive?

This drive is an IDE drive. The jumpers can be set on it to make it a slave.

Once set as a slave, you can identify the drive letter given to this drive and format it either at a command prompt: C:> format [drive:] /s (to make it bootable) or no /s to just format it.- OR within Windows: right click on the drive letter and select format.

i think you must place a jumper on the back side of the hdd.
If there isn't any jumper, it is a "slave".

When you place a jumper on the correct spot, the hard drive will become the master hdd. The position of the jumper can be found on the hdd itself.

Search for "master" and put the jumper there

try replacing all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your motherboard to hard drive
have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty ?
good luck

Having trouble booting two Raid-0 discs on Asrock Z77 Ex4 UEFI

RAID implementations will vary from controller to controller, and even from bios to bios revision or version for the same controllers.
You should "image" the raid on the old board, then delete the raid on the old system.
In the new system, you need to treat these drives like they are new, blank hard disks. Any partitions will need to be removed, and the RAID created on the new board. Once this is done, you can use your partition imaging software to drop the data back onto the new RAID partition. Seagate I believe has imaging software available in Seatools, or you can use something like Acronis True Image or GHOST.

Motherboard won't boot past cmos

you are pretty much right it may be a corrupt bios, however before we come to a conclusion try isolating both Seagate Barracuda 7200 rpm 80gig ide hard drive and optical drive only and then see if it at least goes past the bios screen, if yes then the bios is ok and just needs to be resetted to defaults. dont expect it to load windows even if it goes past bios check as hard disk which helps to boot to windows would be removed. also in case if you are using 2 ram slots try connecting only 1 ram chip in 1 slot and then see if it goes past the bios test screen. do reply with results. Good luck.

and is the first I'd use.

The second costs a little money but is well worth it. It's up to you if you feel it's worth the expense

When I boot up i am prompted to press cntl e or f4 for raid utility. I am trying to clone my ide c drive onto a new seagate sata

Some older mainboards only allow you to use SATA after you have declared your disk through the raid utility. Watch out when you do so that you select the right configuration (Raid 0)

Seagate 750 GB SATA HDD wont show in windows. somebody HELLLP!

Hi T0X1K66O, go back into your bios & set the RAID to IDE or SATA. Save & restart.
Is the 750 Seagate a slave? (I know it's a SATA & all SATA's are Master drives). In other words the 750 is not the drive running the OS? Most bios's the give you the option to run a RAID also give you the option to run you're SATA's as IDE. When you're system boots you will not see the screen (Press tab to setup a RAID).
You do not loose any speed or function by setting IDE mode.
I think once you set you're bios to IDE windows will see you're Seagate drive. Allow windows to format it. Also make sure you're windows is updated.
I couldn't find you're manual so I could find bios options for the RAID settings.

If I can be of more service, just post back & let me know how thing go.
