Question about Canon PowerShot A95 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Horizontal lines running in the captured image.

The memory card has horizontal lines running through the image, yet the camera ccd image is ok.

Could this be a micro processor reset issue, and is there a processor reset option available by pressing a combination of buttons at power on time.

I have used another memory card, same problem, and I have put new batteries in the camera and same issue.

My camera has been working fine. Had it in my purse over the weekend, took it out to take pictures. When I turned it on, I have this cone shaped image in the middle of the screen that has a red line...

When you take one pic, this lines appears in the image? Some symptoms of a defective CCD (Charge Coupled Device) include distorted images or abnormal colors, scratchy purple lines, blank or black pictures, and/or black videos with good sound being recorded on the camera's flash card.

Among the CCDs used in the affected products listed above, it has been confirmed that, especially under high-temperature/high-humidity environments, the internal wiring may come undone in some places.

If this defect occurs, the signal is not output from the CCD correctly when in shooting mode, which results in symptoms like the following in captured images.

In order to correct this issue, the repair facility needs to replace the CCD. This is not something you may do on your own; check this article for additional details: Bad CCDs. This, isn't a good new, but hope helps to solve it.

The pictures have horizontal lines

This is electronic shutter problem that is the reason you get blinder effect/ noise on picture. Electronic shutter is located in lens mechanism and lens assembly will be replaced to solve the issue. Nearest Samsung service center or local camera repair shop will help you to replace lens assembly.
Thanks.

WHITE LINES OVER PICTURE

Hi BOONA,
If live video is ok but captured image is displaying "drop out" I would firstly try switching memory cards as it sounds like you may have a memory location issue. Try a simple test of switching over to your XD card and see if the problem still exists. If this works OK you were probably writing to the CF card, but as flash memory has a finite write cycle life (500 to 1000 overwrites) the CF card may have become faulty.
If you still have the same problem on XD as well, then try using the "pixel mapping" feature in the camera menu to see if this re-addresses a CCD image correction problem.
If still faulty then it is most likely the graphics processor circuity in the camera and it will need to go in for service.

Good luck...hope it goes well for you.

Horizontal Lines throughout the images

My friend, I believe that that is a CCD issue. The horizonal lines and the interrmitent issues with the images are all related to a CCD issue that was notorious on the S-series camera.
Why the tech told you there is no CCD is beyond me, but all cameras either have a CCD or a form of the CCD and this is most likely causing you the issue.

eBay is a very good spot to find replacement parts!

PENTAX Optio 60

If properly captured pictures can be played back fine ( quality is ok ) but images look 'noisy' i.e. color and resolution not what it should be then your camera has a faulty CCD sensor. Ask Pentax if they do this model with this problem free of charge ( most manufacturers repair CCD problems free of charge ).

Sony dsc-p73 image problems

Are the images ok in playback mode ? If they are ok but the pics in capture mode are "noisy" ( i.e. quality is poor both in terms of color rendition and resolution) then it is a CCD sensor that is on its way out. Note that properly manufactured CCD transducers last 10 years + so see if Sony will do this free of charge ... you have a good case.
