I accidentally touched a speaker wire to the metal spikes on the bottom of my speaker. My Onkyo TX-NR757 now reads NG : L R BLBR. I had it biamped so I assume it is both amps. I have tried to reset it...

"I accidentally touched a speaker wire to the metal spikes on the bottom of my speaker. " This action makes +B voltage (positive voltage) short to ground. You may assume 2 power transistors mounted on a large heat sink are defective. Now try to remenber which speaker terminals was accidentially shorted. Then check this terminal or you should check all power transistors mounted on the heat sink, by measuring the collector and emitter resistance. Normal value is Mega ohms and all white 3 pins resistor with 0.22ohm should also be checked if they are open( infinity resistance).I have tried to reset it several times to no avail. Of course, due to defective power transistors. Is my receiver done? Yes. I wrote detailed troubleshooting steps used in onkyo service dept. a year ago, just find it out in my answers.210cda21-872d-438d-949c-2196ccf76712.jpg

No signal on RX,only noice , TH22-AT

You have the 'squawk' turned up too far. This will be a standard dial or a small slotted dial inset in the body. Turn counter clockwise to lower the resonance effect. This should not be confused with a transponder squawk code, which is a different thing totally. If your model is more up to date then the squawk function will be automatic and toy will need to reset it by firstly switching the unit off, then hold the transmit button and the volume UP button while powering the unit on. This will reset all the functions of the unit back to the factory default. If you still have problems then the unit is faulty and needs repair or replacement.

I have a onkyo tx-sr506 receiver that turns it self off

This unit is in protect mode. This means that a problem was detected and the unit has shutdown to prevent further damage. The most common cause of this is failed output transistors. Plan on $20-$40 for parts for this repair.

Protect Mode on. Want to repair/return to normal

Sounds like your receiver is fried. Your best choice is probably to take it to a repair facility, where they can figure out what component failed, or to buy a new receiver.
