Quite probably there is a bit of oil on the belt somewhere that has oil on it.
Check with a technician if the sound does not go away with a bit of time.

SOURCE: Bobbin Carriage clanking noise, yet the machine sews fine??

If your bobbin area is making a noise, then do NOT sew with the machine until a reputable technician looks at it. You may have thrown something just a little off line - not enough to affect sewing NOW, but it could easily cause troubles down the line.

I suggest you call ahead and talk directly to the repair person - not to the sales person. Ask if you can bring in the machine while he/she is in the shop so they can listen while you run it.

You aren't trying to cheat the store out of the repair charge, just ensuring that the problem is diagnosed correctly.

You paid lots of money for this machine - it deserves good care.

SOURCE: Sewing machine straight stitch is not straight

Hey. It's full out possible that you have it on the right setting...but concider this - the switcher inside the sewing machine could be broken (ie. It's moving to different stitches - but not the one you have the outside set for)

It happened to me (pc o crap singer model)

SOURCE: can't tighten clutch on Kenmore zig zag sewing machine.

The clutch has fallen off the shaft. Remove the very small screw in the clutch release screw to remove the clutch release. Place the clutch(round thing with ears on it) back on the shaft with the center ears pointing towards the outside. Put the clutch release screw back on. Tighten it to make sure it works
properly. Put the small screw back in the clutch release screw and test it again. If it will not tighten or release properly, remove the clutch ,rotate it180 degrees and try it again. This should solve your problem.

SOURCE: should I oil my Elna 3005 sewing machine?

Many of the new models do not require oiling.

Check the maintenace section of the manual for cleaning the shuttle area. Sometimes lint can build up and cause the machine to get noisy.

If it has been over a year since the machine was serviced, it may be time for a proffesional tune-up.

SOURCE: how to "tune-up" mechanical Kenmore sewing machine

Sure! Jenny at http://blog.sew-classic.com/categories/Sewing%20Machine%20Repair.aspx has several very good, in-depth articles about servicing your own machine, but here are the basic steps:

1. Take out the bobbin case and bobbin holder.
2. Take the needle plate off.
3. Brush out all the old lint in the bobbin area and under the needle plate. Remove any loose bit of thread.
4. Open the head of the machine (should swing open). Clean any lint or thread that's caught in there.
5. Locate your machine's oil ports and put one drop of sewing machine oil (only use sewing machine oil) in each of them. One drop is sufficient. General rule of thumb: Put one drop of oil wherever metal moves against metal.
6. Using unwaxed dental floss, floss the tension disks.
7. Put everything back together.

If you need a manual, I found one at http://pages.sewing-machine-manuals.com/173/InventoryPage/1834489/1.html.

Hope this is useful!

You Are Using the Wrong Bobbin If they are too small, they can bounce around in your bobbin case and cause a knocking or clunking noise. If they are too big, they will not spin freely in your bobbin case.

My singer merrit 4525 sewing macine is making a squealing noise

Caveat! Oil only if your machine is mechanical. If it is computerized, follow the care instructions in the manual. The squealing could be a belt, May be best to take it for service if it continues.

How do I stop my singer prelude sewing machine from making so much noise?

Reset all dials. Straight stitch, 1 or 2 in length, ease the thread tension and see if it helps. The only area that makes noise is around the bobbin/needle part of sewing machines.

Brother sewing machine noise

Sound like the whole unit needs a good cleaning.
My rule is "if it moves give it a lube", be careful not to get oil on electric boards or in the motor. What is the make and model of your machine. I will try to help you more.

My Kenmor sewing machine started making a very loud squealing noise coming from inside. How can I fix it?

Is it your tension belt? If it is under warranty, call Sears. If not, take it in to Sears sewing machine department and ask a salesman, they usually are good about helping you out. Without seeing your machine, I don't think we can help you. We would only be guessing what is wrong.

My old Kenmore sewing machine makes a loud squealing noise.

It sounds as if your machine needs a little oiling. If you have a clear machine oil (not 3 in 1). place a drop in the bobbin case area and if you will notice, you will see small holes on the bed and on the top of the machine. place a drop of oil into each of these holes. If you can take the top and bottom covers off, you can put a drop of oil every where you see a hole..some of the machines actually have the oil holes painted a red color. Also place a drop at the handwheel as well. Just remember when oiling, less is better. After oiling, run for a few minutes, if you feel it still needs a litte more, do the same, one drop at a time. After this, if you machine sets for a while, oil just before starting to sew, that way when you put the machine away the oil has been worked through and it should help prevent the squeaking when starting up again.
