Hello -

It depends upon what email service you use. The email provider I use does not include images of stars along one side to of the list of email messages in the Inbox.

Perhaps Gmail is your email provider. If so, read the information about stars here:
https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-mark-messages-using-stars-in-gmail-1172088

If your email is provided by some other service than Gmail, I suggest you choose Comment and add the name of your email provider in the Comment box so that I or some other Fixya volunteer answerer can provide you with the right information.

Best wishes.

SOURCE: self deleting emails

Actually they are right but they are only telling you half of the equasion. Here is what is most likely going on. I'm about 80% sure. Norton antivirus is a very weak antivirus system. The only thing it catches is the common cold. Now as for outlook. Yes outlook is very vulnerable to Virus attack. I use Thunderbird if I ever use a program for E-mail. I use Gmail or Yahoo myself but you can continue to frustrate yourself with programs like Outlook if you like. If you must use antivirus to protect yourself from Micro$oft then use Avast, Spybot 1.5, and Clamwin. You will need to configure them properly to get them to work.

There is another way. You can stop using Micro$oft products and download a Free Operating System that does not get viruses or get fragmented. It also comes with Thunderbird. It's called Ultumix.
If you want Ultumix do the following:

If you have a Desktop PC connected directly to the internet (not dial up) and a DVD burner I would recommend you go to www.mindblowingidea.com, click Ultumix, and give it a try by saving the Torrent Download Link. Then go to www.download.com and install uTorrent. You will also need to go to www.burn4free.com and install it as well. Make sure to open burn4free after installing it as well and select English. Then you may close it. Open the torrent file you downloaded in uTorrent. After you save the .iso file to your hard drive (this may take an hour or a day) right click on the .iso file and click burn4free and then Burn ISO. You will need a DVD-R or DVD+R in your DVD drive. DVD-R is recommended. After this reboot your computer and make sure to boot from the DVD drive. You may need to press additional keys during start up to get this to happen. You will see a menu that says PCLinuxOS 2007. Select LiveCD and press enter (this mode will let you try Ultumix without installing it on your hard drive). Now it will ask you some questions about your computer like what language you speak. You will most likely use Ethernet as your internet. Now you will see a screen to log in.

To try Ultumix without installing it to see what it will be like click on Owner and then type owner all lower case in the password field and press the enter key on your keyboard. Please note that it will run much slower than normal in Live Mode. When you install it it will run much faster. If you try the programs on the desktop and like them you may want to install it. We will get to that later. Open the icon marked internet and use it to get to www.hotmail.com. Get into your e-mail. If that works you should be happy. At this point I would like to point out that even though this system can't get viruses or fragmentation (unless you fill the partition over 95%) Firefox can be affected by some spyware and or trojans. If this should occur you simply click Tools > Clear All Private Data > check everything > Clear All Private Data Now.

If you want to install this on your computer you can also leave Windows on as well but you will be asked if you want to run both during setup. Click start and log out. Now click the root account and type in root all lower case. Click Install PCLinuxOS. Go threw the wizard and follow the instructions. You have the option of resizing your Windows partition and using the rest for Ultumix or erase everything and start over. Ultumix can run most windows 95, 98, and 2000 programs in WINE. You will also find that it can run some XP programs as well like Office 2003.

Have fun. If you still want to live with Micro$oft software reply to me again and I will walk you threw the painful process of protecting your computer. You will need to repeat this process I give you every 12 months or less to keep your computer running. You should also be told that in 6 months Microsoft is planning to stop extending service to XP users.

I want delete all emails at once and have not been able to do it. I have over 17000

This depends on which email you are using, but I have never been able to remove nywhere near that number in 1 go, I have always had to delete batches repeatedly until finished. Some email systems will allow you to select a page at a time by clicking on a small box at the top left side above messages and then deleting. Hope this helps.

How can I delete ALL my e-mails? My box is full and it will be too time consuming to do it page by page especially when telsta is sending me 50 e-mails a day telling me its full. HELP PLEASE!!

You don't mention what email program you are using, or whether you are using webmail. If it is webmail, when you are in your inbox, click the Select All box to select all the emails on that page, then click Delete. Repeat for all the pages. There is also a setting where you can change it to show for example 100 emails per page, or All, so that you can Select All and then Delete, much faster. If you are using an email client like Outlook, over on the left side of the program is shown all your folders. Right-click the Inbox folder, and select Delete All.

I have tried to unsubscribe that many times and i keep getting emails. I have a job and these emails are a waiste of my time, please stop.

every time you unsubscribe you are telling them that it is a good address so they will keep sending e-mail
there is a free program called spamihilator and if you down load it you can put the details in and unwanted mail goes straight to the delete bin so you don't get to see rubbish
The program self learns so any mail constantly deleted will get to go to the delete without you see it
it has good star rating so check it out

How can I delete two years worth of old e-mails?

Option one: Go into your archive, press the select all button, and hit delete. This will probably remove only one page at a time.

Option two: Make a new filter for emails sent/recieved before a certain date (today or however old the emails are supposed to be) and choose to apply them to existing conversations. Choose to have all emails in this filter deleted immediately.

Note: If there are any emails you want to save, put them in a special folder and/or star them first and then make sure the filter/select all button marks only unstarred messages.

Undeleting email

When you delete messages in Yahoo! Mail, they go to your Trash folder. If you delete a message by mistake, for a little while you'll be able to find it in Trash and move it back to your Inbox or another folder. Just remember that messages in your Trash folder can be deleted at any time, without warning.
To permanently remove the contents of Trash yourself, just click Empty next to Trash on the left side of the page. When messages are emptied from the trash folder, they are permanently deleted from the Yahoo! Mail server and cannot be recovered.
