Hello, Karen -

I have found several user manuals for Lifesmart heaters online and have looked through them.

None of the manuals I looked through mention reset buttons.

You have not stated the model number for your Lifesmart heater. If you choose Comment and type the model number in the Comment box, perhaps I can find the right manual for your heater and give you the link to download a copy of the manual.

Is your problem that while using your heater is suddenly turns off? If so . . . following is the information I found in the Lifesmart heater manuals (several different models:
(Quote)
Overheat Safety Feature
This heater is equipped with an overheat safety feature. When the internal components of the heater reach
a certain temperature that could cause overheating or possible ?re, the heater will automatically shut of

(End quote)

If that is the case with your heater, you will need to let it cool down before restarting it. You will need to make sure the Power button is turned to Off and then unplug the heater to allow it to cool down.

If you indicate the model of your heater, I will try to find the right user manual for you to download.

Best wishes.

    Hello, Karen -

This is the link to the PDF document with the owner's manual for your model of Lifesmart heater (infrared quartz tower heater):
    TinyURL link:
    https://tinyurl.com/ycahtfnh

You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader software (free) to save it to your computer documents files. Be sure to ave it with a file name you can find again . . . something like: Lifesmart Heater Manual. :)

    Best wishes.

Hello, Harlin - Please post your question as a separate, new question and include the model number (not the serial number.) Best wishes.

How much for new control board for smart electric water heater

Order from Whirlpool using the serial number located on label side of tank.
The 6 year warranty has probably expired.
You can save money by converting to regular water heater.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-convert-energy-smart-water-heater-to-ordinary-water-heater.html

Since the energy smart that is pictured is older than 6 years, it means the anode rod is probably depleted and tank hull has probably started to rust inside.
Catch up on the maintenance while you are working on the heater and you can prolong life almost indefinitely.

Does the life smart ls1500-4pr have a fuse?

Not a fuse as you are probably thinking. Heaters have a thermal fuse that opens by temperture. Some auto reset. Others have a plastic peg out of a round flat disk that has two wires connected to it.

Water heater heats water and then cuts off. I replaced the lower element with a guaranteed for life element. It still heats up and cuts off. There is a control box on top that allows for an easy reset. ...

1) Bad thermostat or thermistor depending on model.
Whirlpool/Craftmaster/American energy smart has control box on top, and you can order parts from Whirlpool.

2) Copy following links to help identify product.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-troubleshoot-electric-problems-with-water-heater.html
http://waterheatertimer.org/Whirlpool-Energy-Smart-electric.html

3) Add a comment with more detailed information:
You have electric water heater.
Unknown brand, possibly energy-smart.
Unknown control box.
Cut off? Do you mean 'reset' is tripped?

4) Whirlpool energy smart requires 10 gauge wire and 30 amp breaker.
Control panel may not function with undersized electric supply.
Control panel has blinking-light errors ... if no error code then maybe the control box is bad.
