Question about NetGear : WG111 54 Mbps Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter, RETAIL (DSNGWG111)

Intermittent connection I have a netgear wireless adaptor WG111v2 but the connection is intermittent. I have windows vista. It works fine for hours and then out of the blue tells me that it can identify the network but can't connect. Then eventually it will connect. Thanks for any help to fix this.

    It works better but is still not perfect - still disconnects occasionally.

    the WG111v2 is properly installed. When the computer goes into the sleep mode tha adapter turns off also. However, when the computer comes out of saleep the adapter remains disconnected. In order to reconnect I have to un-plug the adapter and then re-plug it

The blue light on my wg111v2 in not flashing. is it because i did a system recovery on my pc with the usb plugged in ?


You will need to install the drivers for the wireless adaptor. The flashing blue light simply indicates that there is activity (communications) with a wireless access point.

My Netgear 54 Mbps WG 111 wireless adaptor briefly connects with my Access Point, but then disconnects as soon as the link is established. This happens intermittently every 3-5 seconds. I've already...


In this case follow the steps:-
a)Try another computer or try all the ports on the same computer.
b)If the problem still presist then try to run the computer on a safe mode and check the connectivty.
c)Upgrade the drivers of the adapter from the netgear website.

Connecting Netgear USB adaptor to 2wire modem


Install the Adapter using the CD, After installing if its windows XP it will ask you to choose XP utility or Netgear utility, choose windows and scan for the network.
If its windows vista , go to start-Connect to - u will see the network name here , try connecting to it

Netgear wireless connection


Check the wireless IP address on the XP computer. try to ping default gateway and see whether its giving succesfull reply, after that do ping yahoo.com and check successfull pinging. if it pings successfully the yahoo website , then you should go online.
