Re: No Power

First, remove the memory modules and reseat them, try to power up. If that doesn't work, try removing the hard drive, then remove all of your memory modules. Replace only one memory module and try to bring it up. If that works, put the hard drive back in and power up again. If that works, try putting the other memory module back in and powering up again.
Sometimes, simply reseating these items is enough to get things working. But, you could have a bad memory module.

Hibernation mode

First thing to try is to remove the battery and disconnect the AC adapter. Press the power button for a full 10 seconds to drain residual power from the capacitors on the board. Give it 5 mins then put the AC adapter and battery back in and give it a try. You might also refine your hibernation settings - I had a 5000 which is similar and finally turned hibernation off. Also check for a pin switch that the lid pushes down when it closes to see if something is holding the switch down when the lid is raised. I dont remember if that model has a mechanical push switch or a magnetic. Magnetic shouldnt do it but mechanicals are very prone to getting stuck.

I ussually put mi laptotp to a hibernating mode but now I cant get it started the message it shows says: "hibernating" and its been like this for more than 3 hours How can I solve this?

Power off the laptop, remove the ac adapter, and remove the main laptop battery. Push the power button in for approx 15 seconds. This will bleed all power from the capacitors. Now, replace the battery and attach the ac adapter. Power the computer up. When it boots, go to the control panel > Power Options > On the top of the window you will see the hibernate tab, click on it and un-check the hibernate box. Hibernation will and can destroy parts of the registry. Sleep mode is fine for most laptops....hibernation is not.

I've had my acer laptop for about 2 months. It will not turn on or power up??? Any suggestions on why this is happening?

Sounds like the computer went into hibernation and locked up. Remove the battery, push the power button for 15 seconds. Attach the AC adapter and leave the battery out. Power the computer on and allow it to boot. Once it boots, go to the control panel and go to power options. Once there go to the hibernation tab and disable. Shut down the computer, reinstall the battery and reboot.

My laptop has went into hibernation and shows a small moon and that the battery is in use. I took out the battery and it still shows it in use. It won't come out of hibernation and won't go back to...

The moon means Sleep or standby mode, if the laptop attempted to enter hibernation and sleep mode at the same time it could just be stuck in a hibernation loop and unable to load.

To test this, remove the battery and AC adapter, then hold your power button down for thirty seconds. Once you've done this replace the battery and power cord then try turning it on.

Let me know how you make out and if it doesn't work provide any other details you can including anything that comes on the screen and any beep codes you hear as it fires up.

Thanks and good luck,

Acer Aspire 2920 won't turn on, although plugged in with battery

First of all, what I'm about to tell you are general troubleshooting techniques - I make no claim that they will fix what you describe, but they may help lead you to a solution.
  1. Unplug the AC adapter and remove the battery
  2. Plug in the AC adapter and attempt to power on the laptop
  3. If it doesn't power on, see #6 below. If it does power on, but doesn't boot the OS, restart - pressing [SPACE] as the first Windows splash screen appears. When prompted, choose to delete the hibernation file and start a system boot.
  4. Shut the system down, disconnect the AC adapter, reinsert the battery, and attempt to power the laptop. If it doesn't start we know, at the very least, there's a battery problem.
  5. Plug in the AC adapter. If it shuts down immediately, or won't power back on after a shutdown. . .
  6. . . .there's a problem with the system board, probably the ciruitry associated with charging the battery.
I hope you 'see the light'. Good Luck!

Will not come on

Verify that your AC adapter is working. There should be a light that comes on when it is connected to indicate that the battery is being charged. If the power adapter is okay, your system may have locked up during the hibernation cycle and needs to be reset. Hold down the power button for 10 seconds, release it, wait 5 seconds, then press it once. If that doesn't work, remove and re-install the battery with the power disconnected, then try again. If you still cannot get it to power up then something may have failed inside your notebook.

you might need to check your ac adapter and power outlet first before blaming your motherboard.

Sony Vaio ac adapter submerged

If the ac adapter was plugged into the laptop at the time may be bad news. Unplug AC adapter, take out the battery and hold power button for 10 seconds. Then connect AC adapter and hit power. If that doesn't work put battery back in without ac adapter and hit power button.

If neither test works bring to repair center for diagnosis. Best case AC adapter would need replacing. Worst case Motherboard fried.
