My pit boss tailgater keeps blowing the control panel fuse

That indicates that there is something in the control panel that is shorted or is drawing too much A, If is doing this continually, you should stop using it.
The electric components of the pellet grill have 5 years warranty, contact your authorized PitBoss retailer or contact PitBoss directly for warranty service

What is the erl code mean on a pit boss smoker ?

The code is related to the auger jamming up or sticking. Thus not allow the pellets to flow freely. It could be pellet related or pellet dust related.

New to Pit Boss. Do you cook on smoke or set the temp? We set the temp and there is no smoke.

I have a Traeger, not a Pit Boss, but assuming they work on the same theory, you generally want to smoke at 225-250. The "smoke" setting is usually much lower than that (for smoking cheeses and such). Once you set your temp, your auger will feed pellets into your fire box on a timed cycle determined by your heat setting or thermostat. So you'll actually only see smoke every once in awhile.

Just bought a pit boss 4 in 1 grill. Can i use pellets instead of chips?

Pellets won't burn like chips, they need a constant source of heat. Would not recommend it.

How do you change the fuse on a pit boss smoker

Google for your owner's manual by model number. But I don't think the Pit Boss has a fuse. Are you plugging it into a circuit with a Ground Fault Interrupter? Maybe you just need to reset the GFI by pushing the little button on the outlet.

I set my temp on my pit boss 820 to 200 and it just keeps climbing to at least 400 what needs replaced

If your Pit Boss 820 pellet grill is not maintaining the set temperature and continues to climb, there could be a few potential causes.
  1. Damaged temperature probe: The temperature probe is responsible for sending the temperature readings to the controller. If it's damaged or malfunctioning, the controller may not be able to regulate the temperature properly.
  2. Faulty controller: If the temperature probe is working correctly, the controller could be the problem. If the controller is faulty, it may not be able to read the temperature correctly and regulate the temperature properly.
  3. Airflow obstruction: Another possible cause is an obstruction in the airflow. If the airflow is restricted, it can cause the grill to overheat.
To troubleshoot this issue, start by checking the temperature probe and controller for any visible damage or signs of malfunction. If they appear to be functioning correctly, check for any obstructions in the airflow. If the issue persists, it's recommended to contact the manufacturer or a qualified technician for further assistance.
