You should check the intake screen on the turbine. On some models it is located behind the glass window just above the circular indicator that spins with the brushes. On other models, it is located on the underside of the machine just behind the brush block assy. It is housed in a bright orange/red cassette that is only partially visible until you pull it out. This screen is responsible for keeping debris out of the trubine but will restrict airflow when clogged and the brushes will stop.
Otherwise, the bearings in the trubine may be rusted and siezed from water entering the turbine in which case, the turbine would have to be removed, dissmantled and repaired or in extreme cases, replaced. I have repaired many in my shop but some have to be replaced.

Floor level brush stopped rotating after it caught

Look at the bottom and check a thread of carpet isn't wrapped around the brush, if so try pulling it off or carefully cutting it off. You'll probably see a collection of fluff etc above the brush that's stopping it from sucking up, pull this out, or it just may be that cause the brush isn't working its not picking up.
If this helps please rate me

My brusg stopped turning after sucking up a shoe

Hi There is a reset switch on your Dyson that needs to be pressed when something gets stuck in the brushes. The reset switch helps protect the motor that spins the brush from damaging if something gets stuck inside the brushes. There is a little red pole that sits up behind the brushes on the vacuum head, I believe it's on the left side of the floor head as if you were behind the machine vacuuming. Try pushing this reset switch first. Did this fix your problem? If no, please let me know and I'll be more then happy to do some more advanced diagnosing with you.

The scrub brushes dont spin anymore

The brushes are turning by an air driven turbine. The turbine has a pivot bushing made of steel inside of it that gets rusty because of the water that is running through it. The turbine gear will have to be replaced. You can access the turbine gear by removing the hood. You can find a genuine hoover replacement part by following the link below. Just find the model number of your Steamvac.

My hoover spin scrub machine has stopped scrubbing. It still dispenses and pulls up the water, but the brushes don't move. I've checked the on off button for brush control and cycled it to off and back on,...

There is a filter on the front right hand side of my F5871-900 Hoover. If you remove the plastic covering and clean that filter (wet finger may do), you're Hoover will begin spinning again!

Brushes not contacting floor

It is unlikely that you have worn the brushes to the point that they no longer contact the floor properly unless you use it daily and have a very rough tile or concrete floor and even then they should outlast the machine. It is more likely that there is a problem with the switch that moves them up and down for different floor settings. Also remember that the brushes will be up while the unit is in the upright position no matter what the switch is set to only when you bring the handle down in the operating position do the brushes lower to contact the floor. Pull the brushes out and check to see nothing is interfering with the operation of the brush adjustment or for any broken parts. As for the squeegee they do get deformed and this will prevent the unit for sucking up the water properly so it should be replaced if needed. For any parts visit if you don't see what you need listed email them someone can help.

My machine is a little more than a year old. I have used it about 5 times. It started leaking the third time I used it. The fourth time I took it out, the brushes would not spin (I did clean them and rinse them after use each time).
Now the engine screams and won't **** anything up. Do you have any suggestions? My last Hoover Steam Vac was great and lasted for 3 years! Hi,
I have a Hoover Dual V SteamVac F7425-900 that the brushes won't spin. The lint screen is clean & the brushes switch is in the on position.
It dispenses & sucks up the cleaning solution & water; just no brush action. Help

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The only thing that I can recommend is that you may have a bad switch, some vacs may have a broken belt or the drive mechanism inside the Hoover Dual V SteamVac F7425-900 in or by the brush assm section and is need of repair. Please check the trouble shooting section of the owner’s manual if you’re needing help and to save money. If you don’t have one then contact the Hoover factory cust serv. So, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions. SpotBot: Brushed do not rotate

I had the same problem everything worked except the brushes wouldn't move. I took the top off and tested the leads to the motor and it wasn't getting any power. So I took the power board out and traced it to a large ceramic 5 watt 1.5 ohm resistor right in the middle of the board. I got a replacement resistor from a local electronic store and soldered it in. So for less than a dollar its working perfectly again. Also I put some electical tape over the speaker to quiet it down. It seems funny to have a very very loud beep to tell you when a very loud machine is done.

Hoover model 5906-900 spinscrub

Solution for Hoover SteamVac (F7452-900) brushes not spinning
Uses the turbine model and same solution would be similar. Root cause is simply the main gear attached to turbine becomes stuck. This problem should not happen as often as I see other people also having this problem. Must be a poor design on Hoover’s part. It takes about 30 minutes and a Phillips screw driver and wrench. Pretty easy, just have to remember what screws went where.
Remove brushes, and front suction cover
On the bottom of the machine:
Remove the 4 screws behind brushes which attach the top faceplate
Remove the 2 screws from base in the sunken holes
Remove the two long silver screws from base which connect all the way to turbine assembly
Stand machine upright
Remove the floor select switch handle
Remove 1 screw near the center beside the intake hole
Remove the 2 screws over the rear wheels
Remove faceplate cover, the front will need to be gently pried over the clear plastic part, be careful about the upright disengaging lever under faceplate, move it under the metal wire
Remove the 2 screws in the front of the turbine assembly
Remove the 2 hoses on either side
Disengage the bar on the floor selector switch
Pull out the turbine assembly
Remove the 4 screws and 3 clips to separate the assembly
Remove the filter (which is most likely clean since, cleaning this is the manufactures only solution)
Remove the large white gear and with a wrench remove ball bearing
Remove other large white gear
Note that the metal gear attached to turbine will not move (this was my problem), with a wrench gently grab metal gear and twist free. Spin turbine to make sure it moves freely.
Put everything back together again and you should be good to go.
