Re: RCA P50830BL will not turn on

You have a shorte chopper diode, on main board look in middle of BD. You will need to change Horizontal output and Block blue caps and big Diode.

RCA 50" - Convergence problem and now "Popping" + no picture

The high pitch popping that you are hearing is arcing in the high voltage circuit. I would not suggest a repair on a set that is this old. Convergence repair plus a high voltage problem could run around $500-$600. But it is your call on the repair, I can only advise.

I hope this helps you.

RCA P50830BL 50 in.

This is burn in on your set. Something that had those words set on your set for too long. There is no solution to this problem replacing the CRTs would not be cost effective...make sure you do not leave any still images on your tv for extended amounts of time.

Remote not working with P50830BL

Yes it certainly could be a problem with the remote sensor assy., as I have had bad ones from rca in the past, But mostly its been bad connections from board to board or a jumper or even a few times the Microprocessor IC was bad. The best and only way I know to trouble shoot this, without shotgunning part after part and may get lucky, is to scope out the data line comming out of the sensor while hitting a function on the remote. If theres no data comming out then check the b+ going to the sensor also. Trace the signal all the way to the processor. If signal does make it all the way there , then of course the processor is the problem. Now theres High voltage inside these sets, so its not advisable for a handi-persomn to fix this set themselfs. There really are no user serviceable parts inside these sets as they are all soldered in and you need speacial equipment to properly work on most if not all sets these days. I would say a fair repair cost for a problem like this I would estimate at from200 to 350 depending on the exact problem. Good Luck
