Mount to my kayak, the suction mount does not work
Depends on how much you don't want to drill holes in your Kayak...
The camera presumably will accept a standard threaded mount of which there is a multitude of different types available.
If you prefer to use the suction mount it will need a really smooth surface to remain secure. The best method of achieving that would be to bond suitably sized pieces of shiny plastic laminate to whatever flat areas of kayak are available.
If you want a horizontal mount at the top of the peak or curve of the upper deck just forward of the cockpit coaming, an adaptor will be needed. A piece of fine hardwood could be shaped to provide a close fit suitable for bonding or screwing to the kayak upper deck which will in turn present a flat surface for some plastic laminate.
SOURCE: Safe touring kayak
A boat designed for greater touring distances and a higher degree of safety would have a smaller cockpit, hatches and bulkheads. The smaller cockpit allows for contact with your knees for control. The hatches and bulkheads are designed to be, for the most part, air- and watertight. You can store gear (in dry bags) in these as well as have hundreds of pounds of positive buoyancy should your cockpit fill with water.

Magnets are dangerous around any electronic memory devices. The screw mount is also much more secure. I have a friend that droped a Sony A100 in the first hour of use. It took 3 weeks and $200.00 to get it fixed. I am a professional photographer. I use a D70 , A100 and Fuji D260. I wouldn't have a magnet withinn an arms length of nay electronic equiptment.
SOURCE: My wall studs are wider than my television mount
It is very unusual to have wall studs this far apart - most are 16" on center. Mounting anything that is very heavy on studs so far apart will not be safe. Have you considered a table top stand?
SOURCE: Cant make Tomtom mount stick to anything
you need to pull the two ears on the sides of the suction cup away from the windshield before you tighten it down. its really easy once you figure it out. hope this helps
SOURCE: Suction cup mount keeps falling off windshield
The suction cups ****, don't they? ;-)
The problem is that temperature variations (bright sun vs. cloudy day) causes pressure changes inside the vacuum seal, and it eventually fails.
You can try spraying the cup with water before attaching it...the water helps the cup keep a better seal. Vaseline works even better.
Ultimately, I ended up buying a universal mount that fits right onto one the dash ventilation louvers...no problems since.
