I had the projector lamp in my Panasonic tv replaced. Now it smells like burning wire's.

  • rostit Oct 19, 2018

You probably bought a lamp from discount merchants. They use bad connectors that melt inside. Try and remove the lamp. If it is stuck, that is the issue(melted connector). It is repairable but may not be cost effective.

Check the wiring route is correct or it can cause damage to your TV. Also check the new lamp installation as well to ensure no foreign object is in contact with it.

SOURCE: Lamp hour reset

I don't thing that because you were not reset the time lamp used now your LCD projector stop function
What was exact the unit did? no power at all or some LED light up or flashing. In any case to reset the lamp time use you must enter when unit is on
As you mentioned you did replaced the new lamp, You should check again if you reinstalled properly the lamp and lamp cover because under the lamp cover it had a safety switch if this SW not active then the unit will be in protection mode
I sugges you to remove again the lamp and reinsert properly and secure the lamp cover and try it again and if it still is not go then let me know what are the status of the 2 LED
Cheers

SOURCE: Horrible burning smell from lamp

If you ordered it directly from sony then i would be concerned and contact the to have it replaced under warranty. If you did not get it directly from sony I would expect it is a rebuilt lamp or you purchased just the lamp part instead of the whole cartridge and installed it into the carttridge yourself. The lamp is designed to be replaced as a cartridge . The smell is probly a lamp that is burning the wires on the back side of the lamp because it is incorrectly inserted and the wires are touching the glass. Just a couple times i have seen a lamp that will smell slightly as the plastic and insulation heats up for the first time. But it only smells a little for like a day.

How do I change my projector lamp?

Instructions
  1. Front Projector
    • 1 Disconnect the power cable from your projector. Allow it to cool for 30 to 60 minutes. Lay the projector upside down on a table.
    • 2 Remove the lamp cover, typically located on one of the rear corners of the projector's underside. Depending on your projector, you will either have to loosen a few Phillips screws or press on one or two plastic release tabs to remove the lamp cover.
    • 3 Loosen the screws holding the lamp assembly in place. Grab the assembly by the handle and slide it out of the projector.
    • 4 Slide a new lamp assembly into the projector. Don't touch the glass on the bulb because it will damage the bulb. Tighten the retaining screws on the lamp assembly and replace the lamp cover.
    • 5 Turn the projector right side up and reconnect the power cable. Power on your projector.
    Rear Projector
    • 6 Unplug the TV from the outlet. Let it cool for 30 to 60 minutes.
    • 7 Remove the lamp cover. On most rear projection TVs, the lamp cover is located on the right or left side of the TV's rear panel. Remove the cover by loosening the screws and pulling the cover away from the TV. Certain manufacturers, like Mitsubishi, have the lamp cover in the front of the TV, near the left speaker. To get to the cover, you must first use your fingers to pry off the front panel below the screen, revealing the speakers and lamp cover. Loosen the screws on the cover and pull it away from the TV.
    • 8 Remove the lamp assembly. Loosen its screws, grab the handle and slide it out of the TV. If you have a newer Sony model, there are no screws. Instead, press the release tab to unlock the lamp assembly and slide it out of the TV.
    • 9 Slide a new lamp assembly into the TV. Don't touch the glass on the assembly, as the oils in your fingers will damage the bulb. Tighten the screws or pop the retaining tab into place.
    • 10

Replace the lamp cover and front panel, if necessary. Plug your TV back into the electrical outlet and power it on.

Tips & Warnings
  • Touching the lamp assembly before it has cooled can cause a nasty burn.

I have infocus LP120 and the bulb burned out the other day. I installed a new bulb and it starts up fine except there is burning smell from the vent. Is it normal? Some guys told me it's "burn-in" process...

Yes it is normal, but there were issues in the past with the lamp burning the lamp cables. Infocus then upgraded the cables with slightly heavier gauge wire and better thermal tape around the wires. It would be hard for me to tell you if yours has the upgrade, but if you got it from Infocus I'm sure it is good.

Panasonic pt-l780u projector lamp warning light comes on and lamp goes out. smell somthing burning. this is with three lamps. i am sure it's not the lamp.

the burning could be the dust on the inside burning off. blow the dust out with canned air. then check to see if the fans are spinning. after that, it's the ballast/power supply.

Last night, a message started appearing saying the lamp needed to be replaced on our Panasonic LCD TV. What is this and is it something we have to do? I think it's the Panasonic PT-AX200 LCD Projector, but...

the lamp is good for about 2000 hours. after this, the lamp may still work, but not as well or for very much longer. after you replace the lamp, you have to reset the lamp timer (in the menu settings).
