Your Laser is most likely the cause of this problem. The lens and its frame work could be melting. This happens to all Slimline PS2's. To find out if this is your problem, you must take to console case apart to get a straight on view of the laser. Use magnifying glass to see the lens up close. It helps to also have a flashlight to shine on the lens while looking at it. You can tell if it is dirty or meltng very easy this way. Clean the lens if it is dirty. Use Glass Cleaner and q-tip. If the lens is not dirty or melting, clean the worm gear that moves the disc back and forth
If you still have trouble, Click on "Repair Directory" at the bottom of this screen. On the next screen click on "Video Game Consoles" Find you a good repair shop for your PS2.
