SOURCE: how do i fix dyson DC41 Animal vacuum upright cleaner it has burning smell coming from motor and it blew the fuse box when i WENT TO VACUUM. the wire flex is a bit over twisted

You most certainly shorted this out and will need a new cord. Easy fix but you will have to take it apart and find where it failed. I doubt the motor fried but it is possible. When you take it apart look for the burn mark left by the electrical arc. That is the point you fix.

Fuses Location. Will not turn on.

Vacuums usually don't have fuses. Check the cord and the switch before you consider it the motor.

Why wont the reset button depress on riccar 8955 or turn on after trying

The reset button does not have a significant amount of movement in response to pressing to with a paper clip or ball point pen. If the vacuum does not start upon pressing the button, then either the thermal protection circuit is not why the vacuum stopped in the first place or the reason the thermal protection circuit tripped has not been cleared. Quoting from the manual

"Your Riccar vacuum cleaner comes equipped with a Manual Reset Thermal Fuse Protector. This thermal protector is designed to protect your vacuum cleaner from overheating due to a restriction in airflow (i.e. clogged hose, operating the vacuum without a bag). Should this situation occur, the thermal fuse protector will safely shut off the vacuum cleaner to avoid any potential damage. NOTE: To determine it was the thermal fuse protector that turned off your vacuum
cleaner, please refer to the vacuum cleaner's headlight. If the headlight is on while the motor is off, then the thermal fuse protector did safely shut down the motor. If both the headlight and motor are off, then there is some reason other than the thermal protector (i.e. pulled plug) your vacuum is off.
To reset the thermal fuse:
. Unplug the vacuum cleaner

  1. Check for problem - over-filled bag, clog in hose, clogged filters, etc.
  2. Correct problem
  3. Locate "tripped" fuse - the small white button located on the bottom of the back side of the main body (roughly one inch to the right of the left wheel)
  4. Using a pencil, paper clip or other pointed object, push the reset button in
  5. Plug vacuum cleaner in and resume use"

Panasonic vacuum cleaner just stopped running

Set the on/off switch to off, now check near the top of the "beater" portion, I think that model has a reset button, you should hear a slight "click" when depressed. Try turning the vacuum back on.

My vacuum died. It won't turn on. It is not the outlet. Is it a blown fuse? How do I replace the fuse? Where does it go? This vacuum is a little over 2 years old. My older Hoover WindTunnel STILL works and...

It's probably the power switch. My switch was dicey for a couple years, finally gave out. Easy to replace.

Remove the two screws just above the WARNING on the rear of the upper handle assembly, then slide the whole assembly to the rear of the vacuum.

Remove the dust bag cover. You will see two holes just above the upper corners of the dust bag. Remove the screws from these recessed screw holes.

Open the furniture cleaner cover and remove the cleaner attachment. Remove the single screw that was hidden behind the attachment. Then remove the attachment housing by pulling it towards the front of the vacuum.

Inside you will see the rear of the power switch. Pull off the power wires (don't worry, easy on/off male/female connectors, no soldering).

The switch is held in by tension bars at the upper and lower rear of the switch. Firmly press down on one of both of the upper/lower tension bars, and push the switch through the housing from the rear of the switch.

Replacement part number is 28161067, about $2.50. Shop will charge about $85 to repair it themselves.

Vacuum will not turn on

Kenmore Model 116, behind the Vacuum cleaner there is a Motor Reset switch which you need to press.
1. Make sure the Vacuum Cleaner is unplugged.
2. Press the reset button gently in with a pen.
3. Plug back the Vacuum cleaner and it should work.
