Re: Sony Television

Your tv needs to be opened and if you could do a basic repair, you, in no doubt can fix it. the problem must be in the circuit board that is attached on the crt, it needs to be resoldered because some of its connections are cold or loosing due to old age of your tv , the tube, I believe isn't the problem, sony picture tubes are durable... if you can't do it, it would be good to take it to a service person near you...

From your description the flyback transformer has failed causing the high voltage to load down, if the TV is 10 years old or more, consideration should be given investing in a new set.

Sony KD-34XBR960 has no power; working perfect, on next start up the usual pop when powered on with remote, but failed to come on. No flashing lights, nothing. Unplugged, waited 24 hours, plugged into...

The problem is in the power supply, the most common cause is an open fuse and open capacitors, if the set is more than 10 years old consideration should given in replacing the tv especially if a professional gets involved.

Symptom shows TV needs new lamp and existing lamp is getting weak / dying.
Replace lamp in TV and procedure is written in user manual.
Let me know model number of TV if you need user manual copy.

Blinking STANDBY Light front of Television

Refere to Sony Blinking Codes :
5 Blinks ===> cause AKB circuit (AKB). Something is wrong with the video. check components on the C board, also check the A board. Also unit be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly.

Hope can solved the problem....
