Question about GE 24 in. PDW9880LSS Stainless Steel Built-in Dishwasher

Open Question

Control Module? I have a GE Profile that seems to have a control module issue. I've changed the module and it continues to do the same thing...won't drain at end of cycle and begins washing right away after selecting new cycle. Washes for only about 5 minutes total and then just heats the water...soap dispenser doesn't get rinsed clean either. Any ideas?

SOURCE: DIshwasher Cycle TIme INcreases by 20 minutes over two years

Try cutting the breaker off for 5 min, This will reset the control. The issue is in order for a dishwasher to clean the dishes properly the water in the dishwasher needs to be at least 120 deg f. If its not the dishwasher keeps adding more time with the heater on to try to achieve this temp. The dishwasher only uses about 1 gallon of water per fill so if the water heater is a ways away or the temp is not hot enough, the water temp in the dishwasher will not reach 120.

SOURCE: Dry Dishwasher Soap Still in dispenser after wash.

so here it is...
get a screw driver (you may need a "star" head driver as well), get in there and take out all that you can and clean it (it all comes out pretty easily) will find a lot of undisolved soap and hard water build up...rinse it, scrape it, vacuum it...just get out as much as you can...keep note of how you took it apart so you can put it back together...then put 1/2 to a whole gallon of vinegar in and run a cycle (hi-temp if you have that option)...if it was like mine most of your sprayers were gummed up and the water just wasn't moving through the machine...

to avoid this problem...use half of what you have been using of your detergent...and only fill the "pre rinse" section if you are doing pots and pans....and then only fill that half way as well.
after that run a few cups of vinegar through on an empty cycle once a month...
whole job (not including the wash cycle) 1.5 hours...

SOURCE: GE Nautilus won't drain after Rinse Cycle

Check disposer plug. If a garbage disposer has been recently installed, it is possible the disposer drain plug was not removed. The drain plug is a plastic piece in the disposer that blocks the hole where the dishwasher hose connects. Also check the hose connected to the disposal. Mine apparently had a kink in it. When I straightened the hose the dishwasher drained at full speed (I recently had a plumber re-route a hot waterline. He must has bent the hose). Hope this helps. If not go to the GE website. That's where I found my answer.

SOURCE: Dishwasher does not complete cycle

The solution i'm going to give you might sound weird but it should work. The drain hose should have a curve of about 36 inches up and then down to the drain. This avoids the water to drain on its own, the water has to be forced out by the washing machine. hope it helps.

Of course you can purchase the part. Module runs around $100. Dishwasher control boards are usually easy to replace, but there's no way I can determine if you're capable of doing it.

My dishwasher keypad works except for the up/down arrows for cycle selection. Is it the keypad or the module?

It could be either one. I would try replacing the module first since it's cheaper and if that checks out, your problem is a bad keypad (control board).

My GE monogram dishwasher won't drain. The (3 different) repairmen who came to my home checked the hoses, replaced the pump and replaced the motor. Nothing worked, and they suggested that the home warranty...

Some models (for example most GE dishwashers) use a drain solenoid to drain water out. Sometimes the solenoid gets stuck, preventing the water from draining out. Try to free up the solenoid. If unsuccessful, you might have to replace the pump assembly

If this model doesn't have a drain solenoid to inspect(uncommon), this will lead to a control issue with the main control board or timer module. replace if found to be defective.

remember, the drain command is initiated by the control.once the command is issued, the pump will carry out the actions of draining the unit. if the control is faulty, it will not issue the command properly.

GE Profile PDW8280J10SS: Water won't drain. I

Can you get the water to drain at all in any cycle? If you can, then its possibly the control module .

If you can't get it to drain in other cycles or when you cancel the cycle, then its a possible clog in the drain outlet hose, drain solenoid, or screens.

Here is a good detailed link to check out that explains about it:

Continuous beep after power went off and on

I'm the one who posted on May 23. I tried turning off the breakers and it was still beeped when powered back on. I ordered a new touchpad and control module. When I replaced the touchpad, the beeping was gone, but not all the buttons worked, so I changed out the control module, too, and it works:) I'm going to put clear caulk along the top to prevent spills from leaking through the front panel.
