SOURCE: no surround sound

So your saying that you have no rear channel. Some recivers use a single stereo output ic for both sides on the rear speakers. you could have a defect with this IC . Anther thing Im sure you check3ed the obvious ie : the switch is on suround sound? If there is a front to rear fader is it in the middle? Good Luck

SOURCE: Channels missing on Onkyo TX-SV646

These units are quality units. The fix is not the easiest. We need to determine whether the problem is the output amp sections or the processing side. Worse case, the cost would be around $50-$75 for parts plus the local labor rate. Given your description, it will be difficult to diagnose remotely. One alternative is to get a detailed repair estimate ($50 or so) and post the results here. We can walk you through the actual repair.

SOURCE: I HAVE AN ONKYO TX

The symptom you described can be caused by any number of things. I always start with the output power transistors which are the first things to blow with a speaker output overload condition. Unplug the power cord to your unit, remove the top cover and use an ohmmeter to check resistance from C to E on all 10 of the power transistors (Q6050 thru 54 and Q6060 thru 64) attached to the large heat sink. Blown transistors typically read <1 ohm, compared to good transistors that are >10k ohms. If you find a bad transistor it will need to be replaced.

I want to connect blu ray and a HDTV to my TX-RV646 receiver. whats the best way to do this.

By combining the specific requirements and compatible connections from each unidentified product's manual.

Contrary to most manauls my own practice is to take the BEST Digital Video from any source directly to my multi-input TV and the BEST DIGITAL Audio from any source directly to my AVR so there will be no unnecessary (and expensive) interconnects that add nothing but opportunities for data loss or other failures.

TX- >>R<< V646 does not compute.

I just bought a Blue Ray player but my surround sound has a dvd player built in and only one input which I have my new Sharp TV plugged into. How can I hook up my Blue Ray . I have the HDMI cables

Depending on if your surround system has a hdmi input or not. if it does you can connect the blu-ray player to it. If it doesn't have an hdmi input you will have to run the hdmi cable from the blu-ray to the tv then run a set of rca cables (red and white plugs) from the tv audio out to the surround systems' audio input jacks to get sound through the surround system. Most surround systems don't have an auxiliary input for another video device.

Muffled sound from rear speakers why watching TV

switch the HDMI cables around to make sure its not one of them, if the problem is one of them it will move with the cable,if no change i would suspect the coaxial cable next.
