LG - model LG 37LC7D

The TV turns on and works perfectly for a random amount of time then suddenly I hear a loud popping noise. The screen goes black (backlight is on, but no picture) and the audio turns off. After pressing the power button several times, the TV will finally turn completely off. When I turn it back on the TV works fine for a few minutes, but then the same pooping noise happens and I am left with no video or audio. Please help! Thank you.

Howard,
Do not keep forcing this unit on - - This particular unit has a VERY commonly known problem and there are at least five tech bulletins from LG explaining this and other symptoms for the failure. In a nutshell there are coils that have to be removed and replaced with a jumper wire. This is not a repair you want to tackle so please get some experienced help for this one. A good technician will look-up the bulletins and educate themselves on the manner of the repair.
Almost all of the symptoms that can happen are intermittent and can be extremely difficult to verify. For this reason make sure to discuss with the technician that he replace all of the coils listed in the bulletin not just the ones causing your particular problem. Here's a list of symptoms that these defective coils cause, taken right from the bulletin:
1. Channels Or Menu Functions Scroll On Their Own
2. Remote Does Not Function
3. Tv Randomly Powers On And Off On Its Own
4. Dead
5. No Backlight

Hope this helps!
