It sounds like she may have changed the settings to celius maybe while cleaning
check the use and care guide to set bak to fahrenheit
260c would be around 500f

Celsius to Fahrenheit

SOURCE: Oven will not heat past 300 degrees (on bake command)

Remove the bottom plate on the stove which is likely help in place by a couple of bolts at the back. Remove the plate & inspect the bake element underneath. It is probably melted or broken in some area. It it does need replacing unplug the stove from the wall & remove one of the back panels at the back of the stove which access the wiring at this height on the stove. Disconnect the element.
Installation of new element is the same but in reverse.
Good luck!

I just had my igniter replaced on my Kenmore oven, now the temperature foal won't go above 260°, the oven is heating very hot, but the dial won't go higher. Can this be reset?

Your oven is probably in Celcius mode - try holding bake (or broil) for 3 seconds (after cancel) to toggle. If not, the owners manual will tell you how to switch back to degrees F.

It sounds like 260 Degrees c would be the max temp of your oven, its a pretty high temperature.

The temperature in my oven is not accurate.... If I set it for 350, it pre-heats and then buzzes [to let me know it's reached temp]....but the temperature is NOT 350; rather, it is at 275 [I have a...

Your oven's manual should tell you how to adjust this. The manual should also have a trubleshooting chart. Also remember, your temperature sensor may be going bad and will need to be replaced. For now, you can set the temperature 75 degrees higher to get the correct temperature you need.

Why want my kenmore gas stove w/digital display, bake temp not go any higher than 260 degrees?

Check to make sure the display is not in Celsius degrees. Change it back to Fahrenheit for accurate reading.

Amana Range, AER5515QAW

could be a bad bake element, bad temperature sensor, or control board problem

what does the oven readout display for temperature? if the readout agrees with the actual oven temperature ... it is probably the element

if the oven readout displays a much higher temperature it may be the temperature sensor (the probe in the oven cavity) or the control board

the temperature sensor can be tested by measuring its resistance with power off and unplugged from the control board, should be about 1100 ohms at 75F

If the sensor is good, then it is probably the control board ... in which case we can repair it for you at www.fixyourboard.com
