Question about Acer Aspire 3000 Notebook

1 Answer

Boot Problems When I boot up  - two times out of three it doesn't boot properly, my network conections don't open and I can't open any software, or shut down.  I have to hold down the power button to turn it off and then reboot, second time around it boots fine. The next time I go to use it the same thing happens again.

Re: Boot Problems

Sounds like your OS is corrupt! If you have your software it would be a good idea to try and backup your files first. I would then reload my OS and all of my programs. The only time that this happens is when file registry is corrupted, sometimes this is irreversable! Most times it is, best solution is to properly reinstall all programs and OS. Time consuming, but not hard a few changes in order to do so, but make certain you have all of your disks before attempting! IF you have everything and need a walkthrough just let me know I will help you through it!

How many antivirus can i load in windows7

Why would you want them? Too many antivirus programs will just fight against each other and hog your resources making your system slow.

All you need is AVG, AVAST, or Microsoft Security Essentials. The FREE version of each one and you don't need all three.

Microsoft Security Essentials is smooth and doesn't hog your machine with Update Processes and it is very good.

I love AVG also, but it has gotten where it takes a while to install.

I like AVAST but every time you boot it the Update starts, but it's no where near a hog like McAfee or Norton.

Your install discs are bad. Please don't shoot the messenger. Call Toshiba for new discs. Here is the number (it took me 30 minutes to find this. Please give me a 4-thumbs-up rating. If you don't, I spent time away from family for free).

Cannot get on line in safe mode

safe mode is normally used to troubleshoot problems especially software and drivers. where you use this the computer boots up with minimum software running so you can fix problems. I am sure the modem or network drivers are not loaded and ect.

From the information you give it sounds like you may have virus on your pc! Try to bot it from a live cd like some linux ditro(i.e. Ubuntu) and run an antivirus software. If that doesn't work your best choice is to format it. If that still doesn't fix it then it's probably a problem with your HDD and you have to take it to a repair shop

My hp 2100 presario laptop in not booting

Startup problems
If the notebook doesn’t respond when you turn it on
• Connect the AC adapter.
• Reset the notebook by inserting the tip of a paper clip into the reset button on the
bottom of the notebook. Then press the power button to turn it on.
• If the notebook still doesn’t respond, remove the battery and AC adapter, remove
any PC cards, and undock the notebook if docked. Then plug in the AC adapter
again, and reset the notebook using the reset button.
If the notebook won’t boot from battery power
• Make sure the battery is properly inserted and fully charged. Check the battery
charge by removing it and pressing the pad on the side of the battery. The lights
show the charge level.
• If available, try another battery.
If the notebook won’t boot from the floppy disk drive
• Make sure the floppy disk drive is selected as the boot device.
• If you’re using a USB floppy drive, use the BIOS Setup utility to make sure
Legacy USB Support is enabled. If your notebook also has a built-in floppy
drive, use the BIOS Setup utility Boot menu to make sure the USB floppy drive
is the first device under Removable Drive.
If the notebook stops responding after booting
Check whether you are connected to a TCP/IP network with no DHCP server. This
can cause a long delay at startup because DHCP is enabled. Contact your network
administrator to determine the proper TCP/IP configuration

Press F2 when you start it to enter BIOS to check your BOOT ORDER to make sure your HD is listed first on the list.
If it is not listed remove it and reinsert it and then try again.. GREAT LUCK!! Please Rate Me, K? Thanks- Lucky4lynn2

Unfortunately, power outages affect computers dramatically. You can never tell what or if something is going to be damaged. I have never heard of sound cards being damaged, but it is a possibility. Is your pc still under warranty?

To make things much much easier and if you are somewhat computer literate. Download this- It includes many many programs/tools for fixing, recovering and running diagnostics on a hard disk or finding the problem. It also has a small live boot version of Windows XP to make things much easier so that you do not have to use bios to navigate. Feel free to inquire back for more information. Good luck.
