Question about Computers & Internet
Hey guys. I have an Aspire 5610 laptop which came with Vista home premium installed. I have yet to get bluetooth to work at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've tried all the tricks i've seen on the net. From installing elaunch then installing the drivers. Installed widcomm 6.x , and back to 5.x
I may be wrong but acer laptops have the bluetooth buttons, but not always have the Bluetooth Module. Check the bottom white sticker for a bluetooth symbol under the laptop. If you do not see it, there is no bluetooth. Also, if you press/move the bluetooth button, and the light doesn't turn blue, there's no bluetooth module with your laptop (only the button), so your laptop did not come with bluetooth.

There ain't no Bluetooth on this model. It's just a fake light. It will let you do everything to make it look as if it is working, but in reality, it's an add-on. Check your manual. It conned me too. Gary

A bit late, but I can confirm that alot of Acer laptops have the bluetooth button and an internal connector for a bluetooth module, but not the actual bluetooth module itself. I have an Acer 3050 and this is the case - its just simpler and cheaper for the company to build all the cases the same and just withhold the module inside - if you look carefully at the specs and labelling of the laptop itself, it probably does not specify bluetooth as a feature (they'd tell you if it was there). I have a friend with a higher model Acer than mine: case is identical except his has a dual core cpu, webcam and bluetooth in it.
Never trust the store ads - they are cut and paste together by people with little clue about the actual product.
If you want bluetooth, you can buy the module on ebay for $25 and you might need the connector cable to connect it to the socket. You can also find those ultra small usb bluetooth connectors on ebay for about $8 - might be a simpler solution: they are really small and barely stick out of the usb slot so you can leave it in there. Good luck.

I don't have a solution as such but when I received my 5610 from eBuyer, it was all set and loaded with Vista Home Premium and the bluetooth light was constantly lit blue and would turn on and off with the bluetooth switch! However, I treid to instal a supposedly Vista compatible TV tuner USB stick and the drivers totally screwed up my laptop up, to the extent thatI had to resinstall the O/S and everything else. Since then, I have been unable to get the bluettoth light working at all, never mind the actual bluetooth program! So maybe it has worked at sometime or other on here if the blue LED light was working? I really don't know but I have been unable to get it going ever since the fresh install and like others, I have tried all the Acer downloads from the TFT site but to no avail?
