JVC AV-48WP30, DVI to HDMI on Toshiba HD-A3 HD DVD

Is it possible to connect successfully somehow to the "digital-in" on the back of the JVC? I have an HDMI/DVI cable, but I have to use component cables instead, because obviously, the digital dosen't work.

Re: JVC AV-48WP30, DVI to HDMI on Toshiba HD-A3 HD DVD

If a kit is available it will be expensive to buy and install. Most people can't see the difference between digital cables and component cables

JVC AV-48WP30 : no sound comes out of the tv when my hd cord is hooked up. it will play sound through standard hook up. please help

The "hd cord" you're using is probably a DVI cable; they don't pass audio. For this to happen, you need an HDMI cable.

Inputing HDMI signal to a WS-55313 55 via an HDMI-DVI cable

HDMI standard is a bear, especially "Older" versions. It should be possible to input HDMI to a DVI, either DVI-I or DVI-D, input, there are however DVI analogue too, in fact we have, 3 type of them, they are, DVI-I, DVI-A & DVI-D.... Also some HDMI do not send the Audio over it, as it should, so all in all it can be a pickle. So you MUST get a converter that works with your sort of DVI. You would have to select that DVI, input, which may be under Auxillary, or External or the like, try scrolling through your AV inputs, see if you "Find" it. if so, the set will "Read" the signal and display it automatically. The Audio, however will have to be done via the AV sockets, the Red & White stereo IN, from the DVD etc. If you have any other inputs such as Component Video, Green, Red, Blue, then this is the best way... The Audio, again must be routed to the AV, the Red & White Jacks. So ensure you have those outputs on your new DVD.
I have included a couple of links below about DVI & HDMI for your convenience.
