Maytag Bravos dryer tearing the "felt ring" on front of drum.

Our dryer has begun to make a swooshing noise and we noticed the felt ring that the drum rides on is torn. The unit is a Bravos Quiet Series 400 and is only a few months old. Can I replace this? What would cause this to happen?

Mostly likely the cause was the skid pads came off or were missed aligned. You could have also jarred the drum but it doesnt matter because you want it fixed. So take off the front of the dryer after calling your local maytag dealer and making sure they have the felt, skid pads, belt, and rear rollers (just in case you find more problems).

Once you have this apart make sure you clean it good, take out the lint catcher and vacume all of the lint. No reason to put back together a nasty dirty dryer. Make sure you check the rear felt carefully and the rollers. This is a very simple job and shouldnt take more than about an hour. Make sure you take the door off first then the front panel and you have someone to help hold your tools while you think. Have fun

Drum making noise

Hello Jodi Roberts. I want to help you with your problem but I will need a little more information please.

Can you describe the noise? Is it a vibrating type noise or Is it a squealing sound, as though the belt is slipping? Can you smell something from the dryer similar to the smell of burning rubber?

Dependent upon what you describe can tell me if it is the rollers or glides in the front of the drum support; OR rollers or bearings in the rear of the drum.

Or as I said before, a slipping belt from either a seized bearing on the drive pulley, or the idler tension pulley, or simply a worn & frayed belt that just needs to be replaced due normal wear & tear.

Thank-you.

The felt liner in the dryer came off and now it is making a thumping noise and we noticed some small oil spots on the cloths

I have a Maytag dryer, MDE9700AYW, and the felt liner at the front of the inside of the drum has torn away, at least most of it has. It take approximate 2 hours to dry a load of clothing. I cannot find the part number or the name of the part. I spoke with an appliance repair shop and they are unfamiliar with the felt liner. Can someone assist with obtaining a name, part #, and resolution?

Thanks,

Anthony

did you call the factory,if it's under a year it should still be under warranty, you shouldn't have to pay a thing,i would have a problem with that too.

Maytag dryer is leaving black marks or rings on clothes

If your clothes get marked or torn in your dryer, check these: Rollers Rear seal Front glides Front seal Rollers Your dryer may use rollers, or wheels, to support the rear of the clothes drum. When these are worn out, they may cause the clothes drum to drop down slightly, which can pinch the clothes between the top of the clothes drum and the rear of the dryer interior. When the rollers wear out, you need to replace the whole set. Rear seal Your dryer may have a felt-like seal at the rear of the drum. If this seal is worn, torn, or missing, clothes can get caught and torn in the space between the clothes drum and the rear of the dryer interior. When the rear seal wears out, you need to replace it. Front glides Your dryer probably uses nylon or plastic glides at the front of the clothes drum for support. When these are worn out, they may cause the clothes drum to drop down slightly, which can pinch the clothes between the top of the clothes drum and the front of the dryer interior. When the glides wear out, you need to replace them as a set. Front seal Many dryers have a felt-like seal at the front of the drum. If this seal is worn, torn, or missing, the clothes in the dryer may get caught and torn in the space between the clothes drum and the front of the dryer interior. When the seal wears out, you need to replace it.

Kenmore front load dryer rubbing noise

What I found with my rubbing noise was very small rocks that past the felt ring and became traped between the felt and the steel drum. I will have to pull front cover off to see if I can get to it.
