According the camera manual, troubleshooting section, page 286, if you shoot continuously with the built-in flash at short intervals, the flash might stop operating to protect the flash unit.

You can donwload the camera's manual at the link bellow:

SOURCE: After I have detached my

After I have detached my external flash (Nissin Digital Speedlite Di622), my Canon EOS 60D does not recognize the fact that the external flash is already detached. Thus, this does not allow the built-in flash to pop out when needed.

I have tried turning the power off and on again. The problem persists.

SOURCE: I bought my new canon eos 60D..i put on external

Hi, What external flash did you use on your Canon 60D? The internal flash will not automatically pop up if in the "Creative Zone" it will pop up with the button in the creative zones (M, AV, TV and P) it will not pop up with the button if you are in the the full auto mode (that's the little green box mode) but, should pop up automatically if required. The flash should pop up automatically in the basic zone for Portrait, close up and night photography, the button won't activate (pop up) the flash. Also the internal flash will not pop up if there is an accessory in the hot shoe. Again what external flash was it you used and did it flash?

SOURCE: Canon 60d internal flash wont

you have to take it out of auto mode to have any control over flash, try putting it in P mode then press the flash button which is next to the flash. if this doesn't work, take it back to where you got it from to take a closer look.

SOURCE: inbuilt flash unit on Canon

Hi,

First remove the batteries from your camera and switch it off for 10 minutes and then insert new batteries and switch it on. In most case, you won't get the error message.

If you still get the message then there tends to be a problem with flash lamp. The inner conductivity between flash lamp and circuit board is causing you this error. You need to take to service center to get it repaired.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: I have a canon 60d

Hello,
Usually if my flash isn't firing I check to see if the flash is mounted into the hotshoe properly. I take it off the camera, put it back on and tighten it down then test it.
If that doesn't work then check the display of the flash and see what mode you are on or if the display is flashing. If it is flashing then the wide angle adapter may be covering the flash which you will need to take off and put back inside the flash. It's that white plastic tab that slides in and out of the flash head.
Hopefully that will fix it.
-Matt

Canon 60d built in flash will not pop up.

The external flash mount (hot shoe) has a small sliver of metal which when the external flash gun is slid on pushes it down to tell the body to not use the pop-up flash and some times the sliver doesn't return fully up to contact the underside of the hotshoe

Possibly the spring that raises it is broken, or there is foreign matter in the hinge. Can it be raised manually ?

How to get flash on canon 60D to pop up

Go into the menu and ensure it is 'enabled' to fire automatically. Or press the lightning arrow button on the side or in a darkish room set the aperture to something like f16 and press the shutter button.

Canon 60d internal flash not popping up

Check the metal tabs inside the notable rails as they need to touch the upper part of the rails to allow built in flash to work
Use a micro screwdriver to push the tabs up to the rail
GENTLY as that was what was wrong with my canon digital body

60d flash pop up

Mode dial is set to an auto mode or the setting is set for flash photography. Change that and the built-in flash unit won't pop-up every time you press the shutter button.

Use of Canon 60D's wireless function to control power on Canon 430EXII, being operated manually.

Your flash will fire optically. This is wireless but not radio. On the flashgun window move through the options until you see all of these in the window :- Flashing M, MZoom (24mm)
(the power output eg) 1/4
Flashgun icon CH1 Slave (blank)
The front panel should show a flashing red light. This means it is ready to receive the light signal from your onboard flash. From the camera menu select the in built flash control.
Set it to - Built-in flash - CustWireless
Flash mode - Manual flash
Wireless func - (single flashgun icon)
Channel- 1 ch
firing group - (flashgun icon)All
(flashgun icon) flashoutput - 1/64

selecting 1/64 should be sufficient to trigger the flash gun but not light the scene.

Manually pop up the onboard flash

In the view finder you'll see a number of green bars when half pressing the shutter and wait for them to go down to one which mean the camera and flashgun are communicating, fully press to take the shot and the flash (off camera) should fire.
