-   Same problem with my 42" Plasma. Loud pop, No picture, No sound.
Got the, so sad to bad speel from Vizio. They recommended a repair service in my area. They told me $450.00. I told them no thank you, and they could take this very expensive paper weight with them. I will never buy another vizio product.

-   Same issue with a Vizio 37" LCD purchased from Sam's Club a few years back - nothing at all when power is turned on other than the red LED light indicating the power is "on" - no sound, no picture, nothing - per our local repair shop the "main board" needs to be replaced at $300 (paid $900 for the TV originally) - haven't pursued with Vizio or Sam's club yet - any thoughts?-

-   Maybe we all need to start emailing Vizio flood their mail box with this issue and maybe they will do something about it...doubt it but at least we did a little something. Tv made a pop then the display went dim..I shut the TV off and unplugged it plugged it back in and same pop no picture

-   I have exactly the same problem with my TV.-   Guest Nov 09, 2008
-   Have the Visio 42" plasma tv that is about 18-20 months old. Bought it at Sam's Club. It had a loud pop and died. No lights, sound or anything. Customer support at Visio was unhelpful and occasionally rude. Said the board needed replacing but no one in my area could do it (outside of Bangor ME). Is there a possibility that Sam's Club would replace it?? We are on a fixed income and can't afford the repair (if a repairman could be located) and certainly can't afford to replace it. Help??

My 42 Inch Vizio experienced the pop of death out-of warranty. I bought mine at Sears and they sent a technician over within a day or so. It turned out to be in the power supply and they shipped a board right out. Total including parts and labor was $280. Although no expensive TV should die after less than 2-years, Sears seems to be able to deal with repair in the home without drama.

no suggestions to fix but isn't there something about lemon laws, or "recalls" ? Just wondering. I have a 42" nad my brother has a 50" and his blew too. He purchased his at CostCo and is waiting to see if they will do anything for him. I guess if one of these sets burns someone's house down they will issue a "recall". That is a lof of money to pay for a TV and only get a year and a half out of it. Looking for answers and finding none at this point.

- did a little research. If you purchased your Vizio TV at CostCo they had a 90 day trial period within which you can get a refund or replacement, no questions asked. After the 90 days you have two years ro repair or replacement. Within the two years you take it back to them and in most cases, I understand, they simply replace the defective product.
Next, some credit cards double warranty periods on electronic products purchased using their card. Discover is one and Visa is another, check you policy with them if you have one of thexe cards. Hope this helps a little.

Do not buy Hp PL5060N/HP PL4260N plasma HDTV. Mine only lasted a little over one year (just when warrant ran out) Now, I find that many buyers have had the same problem--ysus board failure--$625 to repair--with only a 60day warrant. I guess HP knows about this but hasn't recalled them. When you call to report this, the attitude is "tough luck". I will never buy another HP product and am passing the word to everyone I know and a lot I don't know. Are there any others out there?

Same problem with my Vizio - owned it for less than 14 months, and now it's a brick. I'm disgusted with Vizio, this is obviously a serious and wide-spread problem...they should step up and offer a solution instead of screwing their customers. Based on the $500 repair quote I got from them, I'll never buy their products again.
