HP dvd 740b dvd burning issues

When I try to backup my dvd's using the HP dvd 740b model I get the burning completed succesfully but when i flip the dvd over you can see where the burn starts then stops at the beginning and towards the end it does the same thing. i looks as if the burner stops then starts up again. I tried using other software and had the same issue. Is this a hardware problem or software issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I also have pictures.

In my sony dvd writer(DRU 8705), the prblm is that when i write any data frm my HDD into a dual layer dvd, the burn process succesfully completes but after that when i try to run the datas such as games,...

Hi ,
For video , use NERO Recode
For data , use NERO Burning Rom
If the issue persists , try using burning with another unit and compare the results . If you are still stuck , change software . If this still doesn't work , install Malwarebytes and make a full deep scan of your system ( )
One of these solutions should help .
Best regards .

Well i recently did the windows updates and now my

I've had the same problem, but due to my video configuration I don't get a display until after I load Windows and this fix requires a bootable floppy or usb drive, so I haven't actually tried it yet. This link gets you the download for the firmware update to the optical drive, and I think it will create a bootable floppy or flash drive when you run the app. There's a 'View Directions' link right above the link to the downloadable file and the app itself instructs you on screen I believe. If this is too much then the other option of course it to replace the drive. Good luck!

HP LS 740B dvd

If you still have the install disks try uninstalling the Drive and reinstalling , iif you dont here is a link to the latest firmware and drivers for your burner , make sure you download the right model but

ok to uninstall your drive
1. right click my computer
2. click on properties

a new window will popup

3. click on the hardware tab
4. click on device manager

the device manager console will now open , from within here find your DVD burner under the DVD/CDROM drive heading, right click the appropriate drive and click on uninstall

now reinstall with the drivers and restart.

also if this doesn't fix your problem try upgrading the firmware of your Drive.

**im assuming your running Windows XP for that solution but i would think the process in Vista would be very similar.

If you have a spare computer that is unused maybe you could try it on that machine and see if it works , if it does a fresh installation of Windows on your current machine may be the solution as it could be infected with a virus which just may have corrupted the window drivers.

i hope this helps :)

Unless you have a good DVD burning software on your computer (Microsoft is not enough--I mean Roxio, NTI CD and DVD Maker, the drives may not even be recognized. Oddly enough, you don't need drivers for the CD/DVD drives. Find out what burning software you have-- I recommend downloading Belarc Advisor, a free program which not only tells you everything in your computer, with model numbers for hardware and all of your software (with their unique codes), but even informs you if you are missing any needed Windows updates. Once you know what you have, if it came with the computer, you have to seek an upload at the computer manufacturer's website, (you can do this at HP) as it may be a special program not related to the burning software purchased from the software manufacturer---go to their website for upgrades, and download it. let me know if that does the trick.

My HP DVD writer 740b won't recognize disc

You guys are crazy, another person trying to send someone to a repair guy to make money off us when in fact it would be cheaper just to buy a new one. I have the same issue with the same model 740b and this is driving me crazy I have been to a 100 different post andI will tell you what no one has a clue what they are talking about. Oh, restart the system upgrade your firmware, delete your reg file, its all BS. I have did everything in the book and this is what I have come up with. My drive reads some dvd disc I have created but any ISO or Auto play disc it doesnt even see it just keeps trying to load and thats it. So in my opinion HP or Compaq sent a update that did not require you to accept or approve and it updated the firmware with some info about allowing to use writen ISO or autoplay disc. Because it would seem to help with the cutting down of pirated software but the only issue is that if the software is an individuals and they copied it for their own use, who are they to intefere with our equipment. I may be wrong but it just seems kind of funny that every one is stating that this all happened around the same time. So in closing if you dont know the remedy do not suggest to send to a repair shop because you are an idiot then.

Thx Pirate

Can't Burn Dual-Layer Disks

First, be sure your DVD burner is capable of burning dual-layered discs- Second, it may be rather an issue of copy protection on the disc. Have you succesfully copied commercial DVD's in this fashion? I'm unsure if I'm allowed to mention any software that might assist you in that regard- google is your friend.
